DocumentaryBy buckeye(148) Documentary films have become a common thing in theatres today. At least more so than in the past. Some of the more famous documentaries are used not about something for the discovery channel or animal planet, but they are used as a source of journalism. Documentaries like Roger and Me, Farenheit 9/11, Super Size Me, Wal-Mart: The High Price of Low Cost, etc. serve to inform the public of what the director feels is an injustice.
One of the more controversial documentary film directors is Michael Moore. Moore is a social activist who voices his critical views on topics like gun violence (Bowling for Columbine), large corporations (Roger and Me), the war on Iraq and George Bush (Farenheit 9/11) and much more. Certainly Moore has his own personal slants to the issues he addresses, but if you think about all journists have some sort of slant. When it comes to media there is no such thing as objectivity or neutrality there is only the false pretense that there is. Take Fox news for instance. Fair and Balanced, right (enter sarcasm).
