Kicking it all off...

By sonny(16)

Well we touched down in New York lunch time on Wed 1st Nov.

The sun was belting down and the city looked great as we drove into the big apple in a cab.

Our hotel was uptown on 94th street, it was small and clean and looked perfect for what we needed (sleep and somewhere to put our bags)

We jumped on the subway and headed straight for downtown NY - Times sq. Its hard to describe how crazy the place is when you come out of the station. The lights and sheer size of the place are over powering.

We went into the Rockefella Centre to try and get up to the rainbow bar at the top. In the que we noticed a maitre'd coming along the line telling people without a suit jacket or shoes to get lost, so to save embarresment we hightailed it out of the line and back on the dirty street where we belonged!

The next day we wandered everywhere in the city, the meatpacking district (which isnt as gay as it sounds!), West Village, 5th Avenue, Greenwich Village, Soho...(getting tired just thinking about it. After 9 hours walking we fell into bed.

On Friday night we went for lovely Mexican food and went to a bar where the huge guy serving us shouted at everyone, made fun of us and then bought us drinks. Strange but a good laugh.

On our last day we went around the Hudson river on the ferry looking at the amazing buildings and hearing about the history of New York. Did you know the first immigrant into the city was a 15 year old girl from Cork city?

After lunch in the Hard Rock cafe it was off to central park for a horse and cart ride (the horse was called Beethoven incase you wanted to know) then to Madison Sq Gardens for a Knicks Basketball game...GO KNICKS!!!!   They lost but we got hammered and fannyed about with giant hands and ate hotdogs.

We tried to find the legendary nightclub Shelter but the building was boarded up. Confused we heard an Irish voice informing us it had moved downtown. This culchie on a horse and cart was giving us directions to a dance club!!!

went to Crobar club and danced drunkenly to David Morales the stumbled home somehow for four hours sleep...next stop Los Angeles.
