A Fairy Queen

By StephanieFay(6)

In Ethophia, there is a queen in the fairy kingdom who has no king. She is widowed with twin daughters, D'Nyelli and A'mandi. Her husband was killed during the Great War between fairies and wizards 20 years ago leaving her with two one-year-old girls to raise by herself.

"Your Majesty, D'Nyelli is coming up the driveway," the attendant said. Queen F'Atima nodded regally and glided across the room to wecome her elder daughter.

A tall, young woman with midnight black hair and silver eyes walked inside the doors and saw her mother coming. Her radiant smile brightened up the room as she hugged the queen. "D'Nyelli, charming for you to visit at this time instead of a week ago," the queen scolded tenderly. "Mother, I had a duty to do. I am sorry that I wasn't able to attend the meeting," replied D'Nyelli. "Honey, it wasn't a meeting. The purpose is to prepare you for the role of the queen when I retire. I am retiring in a few years, you know," F'Atima said gently, "it isn't going to kill you to learn the responsiblities of a queen." D'Nyelli sighed, "I know. I just couldn't imagine being the queen after you have been the queen for so long." The queen and her daughter strolled outside to enter the blooming garden. Someone might have mistaken them for sisters since both look alike so much. "When is the next meeting? I promise I'll be here. I just feel so strange going to the role of queen from the role of hunter. Both are so different in the activities. Mom, how would I be a good queen such as you?" D'Nyelli asked nervously. "Sweetie, I can only help you to be the best queen you can be while I am here, but you yourself are the only person to do that. I think it is soon time for you to choose a husband, perhaps?" F'Atima said hesitantly. D'Nyelli gasped loudly, "I can't image marrying any guy here! I am sorry. I'll get married a few years after I become queen. I think that would be the best course to go." "All right, we will leave it at that. Elli, let's go eat at a mortal resturant. I love their food so hot and delicious. I am in the mood for seafood. What about you?" the queen asked delightedly. "Seafood sounds great!!" she grinned.
