FargoBy buckeye(148) One film that comes to mind is the largely successful film "Fargo." The film was created by the famously known Coen brothers. "Fargo" was nominated for many awards: Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture. "Fargo" took home Oscars for Best Screenplay and Frances McDormand won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her role as Marge Gunderson. Another thing that made this movie work was the juxtaposition of a multiple murder mystery in America’s heartland. In fact one of film’s taglines was “A homespun murder story.” A not so full proof plan by a car salesman trying to pocket ransom money for his wife goes bad and the situations of him and the kidnappers only get worse. All the while we watch as McDormand’s character tries to piece together the murder mystery. McDormand gives the performance of a lifetime as she holds the story together creating a comic relief from the terrible twists that unfold for the kidnappers and car salesman. The Coen’s tried to create even more of a buzz to their film by saying it was “Based on a True Story” in the opening credits. But as time told it really wasn’t. This Blog Post has been read 2 times.
