| The Beanery Writers Group extends thanks to all our readers who helped its blog reach its 5000th hit. This landmark was reached by 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2006. The beanerywriters blog was created on August 23, 2006. It was the 12th blog on the ProBlogs website. It has remained third in popularity on the website, and first in the writers category. The Beanery Writers Group is a small, eclectic group offering each other support, critique, direction and writing opportunities. We meet the second and fourth Fridays, 1:00 p. m. to 3:00 p. m. in the meeting room of the Coffee Bean Cafe in Latrobe, PA. Writers of all genres expose members to different types of writing. The blog site serves as a venue for BW members to share their personal writing and to submit items on writing hints and techniques. We appreciate and thank the ProBlogs website for offering us an opportunity to add this blog to our activities. Their support (of this computer-illiterate leader) has been crucial to setting up the blog. It reaches out to writers who want to be involved in a writers group but are unable to attend meetings. It serves the community by supporting starts of other groups. Several children have submitted items. Visitors are invited to comment on the writings and are encouraged to submit writings to the site. Prompts used in the Beanery Writers Group meetings are posted for visitors use and submissions. The blogs category BW Bios lets readers know something about our members. The oft repeated question at our meetings is: Who are the people who are hitting our site? Who are our readers? We invite you to share something of yourselves by striking the colored title of this (or any other) item and scrolling to the bottom, where comments are added. We'd like to know something about who you are. If you use the computer much, you know you can use only your first name or a tag name. The group belongs to and is defined by its members. I am merely the organizer and enabler. New members and visitors are always welcome. Carolyn |
