The Shawshank RedemptionBy buckeye(156) The next film I'd like to focus on is one of the all time greatest (at least in my eyes); however, if you don't like this movie something is extremely wrong with your taste in films. The film is "The Shawshank Redemption". This is a prime example of how a great film can be overshadowed and how hard work can be overlooked. I've used examples before of how a film can put all the right pieces together to create a formula for success, but in this case all the pieces were there, success at the Oscars didn't follow.
"The Shawshank Redemption" should have won many Oscars for a number of reasons. First, the superb performances by Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. Freeman was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Unfortunately, he lost to none other than Tom Hanks in his role as Forrest Gump. "Redemption" was nominated for 7 Oscars, but walked away with none. The film met some stiff competition as Forrest Gump took home Best Picture, while Quentin Tarantino and Pulp Fiction created a roadblock in other nominations. Not to mention another classic, Legends of the Fall, was in the mix as well. This Blog Post has been read 0 times.
