Shadow of the Earth
By beanerywriters(11,675)
Hugh, a prolific writer of poetry, is no stranger to blogging. He's created three of his own. He granted permission to publish the following poem on the beanerywriters blog.
Can't you see we're all the same. Only our shoes are different; The dirt they show from the road we were on, The hurt they show when the soul is gone. It's the world that wore it away. Can't you see that? Can't you see inside Our shadow of sorrow Sewn to our hearts, Yet curling up to die We're all the same if you could see But your eyes won't see what we do. Like shattered glass and broken dreams, Long bent, long spent and coming apart. Look in our eyes to glimpse our heart. You can't see what you don't want to, But you can't say that you don't know. We're all the same but I'll be less, So that you can think you're more. And when the time is right Can you put the past behind you all in one night. Can't you see, or don't you care? One night won't be long enough. | |

This piece sends a powerful message. I like your choice of diction. The message is direct and, clear. Nicely written.
