Increasing troop levelsBy DrAbuelo(2,706) Increasing troop levelsHardly a day goes by when we don't hear about the battle brewing in Washington concerning the issue of troop levels in Iraq. For the ever decreasing loyalists of the Bush administration argue that a temporary increase in troop levels is necessary in the US's effort to stabilize the security in Iraq. For the Democrats and a growing number of Republicans, the reality that proposed 20 to 30,000 increase in troops will do nothing but add to the hostility in Iraq which has already bowled over into a civil war. Why Robert Gates and George Bush continue to sell the fiction that the war in the Middle East can be won. What does get lost in the discussion concerning the debate over the wisdom of increasing troop levels, or the lack there of, is the fact that the Democrats led by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosie are to date refusing to do what is necessary to end the war in Iraq. And, perhaps this is the greatest illusion, yet, that is, that any number of letters sent to George Bush will convince him to withdraw troop levels. He has as demonstrated time and gain that he will continue on as always unless meaningful changes are made. On top of that list is the cutting off of funding to the war. If the Democrats are in fact serious in ending the blood shed of what had been an illegal engagement from the beginning, they must cut the purse strings other wise, there is little reason to believe Bush will make any real change concerning the current direction. But it should not end there. If we are to see a real change to occur impeachment also must also be put back on the table. What was lost during the white wash known as Gerald Ford's funeral, is the lesson that should have been learned from Nixon, that the American people do not support an imperial president and it was in 1974 the peoples pressure on Congress to force hearings that lead to the resignation of richard Nixon. Like wise, the congress, must take similar steps concerning the Iraq war and Bush, along with Dick Cheney. If such legal measures are not taken, there will be blank check given to the Bush adminstration, one that says that he can invade any country he wants without repercussions. This flies right in the face of what the constitution is suppose to stand for. Only time will time if the such measures are in fact taken. http://www.groundhog.tv/apps/editor/staticplayer.jsp?clip=1168296045988.wmv This Blog Post has been read 0 times. I spent a life time of defending this country and I am tired of two bit politicians who are exeperts on Tactics and troop strenth. Check the "INVESTURE CLAUSE of Article 2 of our constitution." Sevent times Congress has locked horns with trying to control the commander in Chief--they lost 7/8 in the Supreme Court.
