Building For The Humanitarian CrisisBy DrAbuelo(2,706) Building For The Humanitarian CrisisOn Wednesday, George W. Bush finally laid out his long awaited plan to change the strategy in Iraq. As expected, the driving force behind this new plan is to send 20,000 more troops to Iraq. What was not expected, was Bush's comment that Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliqi has a limited about of American support before he takes over the security of his own country. But, one must wonder how much of this is rhetoric . And today, according to the AP, the White House said that if Bush's plan works, American troops could come home as early as this year, however for this to happen, the civil war between the Shiites and and Sunnis must be squashed and the Iraqi people must believe in the current government in Iraq. By most accounts, none of this seems likely. For those more than 20,000 troops, most of them are going into their third shift and are battle wary as it is. What is being prepared here is a humanitarian crisis equal to that of the invasion of East Temor in 1975 or that of Grenada in the 1980s One must wonder what will become of many of these 21,500 troops that will be sent over sometime this year. By most accounts, many of them are going back for a third time and of those who are suffering from what is now called Post Dramatic Trauma Disorder, or shell shock for short we do not have a clear picture of what the numbers really are. Part of this is due to the militaries lack of concern and part of it is the individuals unwillingness to seek help out of fear that they will appear weak. So what can we expect to happen while they're there. One common symptom of the disorder is uncontrollable outburst which are very often violent by nature. And the white house suggests we put guns in their hands. For many who don't commit suicide after hitting their breaking points, we can expect the type of killing sprees like the one we heard about last year when American troops killed an entire family in their homes, in their night cloths. Perhaps Bush's plan doesn't account for this. Nor does his plan take into the account of the nationalist history of Iraq that really exploded in 1959 with the over throw of the Hashemite. In short, what George W. Bush is preparing for his the arming of mentally ill people who are already finding life in the states difficult to get reacclimated with according to the Stars And Strips news paper. With any rash mistake made by the Bush administrant there were massive protests to demand the decision by the Bush administration should be reversed or, or for that matter, to let Bush know that he has lost the backing of the country. Add the growing resistance that is growing not only from Democrats but, also many Republicans as well we must wonder, is impeachment far behind. We'll see. Until next time. http://groundhog.tv/apps/editor/staticplayer.jsp?clip=1168640722191.wmv http://groundhog.tv/apps/editor/staticplayer.jsp?clip=1168640401488.wmv http://groundhog.tv/apps/editor/staticplayer.jsp?clip=1168640146191.wmv This Blog Post has been read 0 times.
