Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Do you forget that God is in control of everything? I know I do sometimes, especially when things aren’t going according to “my plan.” When I was a single parent I had several goals, including the desire to be in a relationship and a need to lose weight. I asked God for help, but the fulfillment of these goals wasn’t moving along very fast, and I wanted to speed the process up. Waiting on God was the hardest thing. My expectation was that if I asked God for something he would give it to me now. It’s then I discovered God’s plans don’t always match what I want. To wait on His timing seems never-ending. Some circumstances seem to go from bad to worse even when we praying for “our” solution. Trusting God to work things out in His timing and to His purpose is a test of our faith. Some answers God gives us seem to contradict our expectations. At these times, even though our faith can be pushed to the limit, we must be strong, continuing to trust that God will work things out for His purpose. If we are just patient and wait on Him the solution will be better than we would ever imagine. Ask yourself the following questions: - Where are you in your faith/spiritual journey?
- Do you have things in your life that you need to turn over to God instead of trying to control the outcome yourself?
- Are you “pretending” by saying you trust Him, but still doing it “your way?”
- Do you say “Your will” be done, but really mean “my will?”
The answers will help you understand whether you are going your way or yielding to God’s way. Prayer – Lord, today I will start trusting You for everything in my life. I give up my need to be in control---I will let you be the boss. Let this not be just lip-service. I truly commit my life to You. Amen. ---written by Maisie, Bethlen (Senior Citizen) HOme, Ligonier, PA (activities personnel) |
