The National Palace Musuem's complete set of treasures as well as five important pieces on loan from the Metropolitan Musuem of Art in New York and the Nelson-Atkins Musuem of Art in Kansas City, Missouri will be on display.  This event aims to provide a refreshing view of Northern Sung painting and calligraphy through a display of the classical artwork of the period.

Specail Exhibition on Northern Sung Ju Ware

Northern Sung Ju ware, famous for the subtle sky-blue color of its lustrous glaze, has the enviable title as the paragon of celadon wares.  The firing process of Ju ware is infused with legend and mystery, and only 70 pieces have survived.  The musuem's collection of 21 pieces, the largest collection in existence, will be displayed in its entirety.

Special Exhibition on Sung Dynasty Rare Books

The print industry prospered in the Sung Dynasty because of advances in papermaking, ink production, and printing technologies.  They carry historical significance in the fields of philology, literary criticism, and the art of printing.  The innovative qualities of each unique printed Sung book render this an exhibition that is not to be missed.

In addition to the special exhibition, the permanent exhibitions in National Palace musuem is also splendid and worthwhile for viewing and visiting, such as "The Mystery of Bronzes", "The Neolithic Age, the beginning of the Civilization", "Classical Civilization", "Dazzling Gems of the collections" or "The New Era of Ornamentation"  are significantly displayed .
