More critters---oh, no!

By CarolynCHolland(9,534) CarolynCHolland

October 6, 2006  After promising I was through with critters, we were met with the perfume of a skunk on our arrival to the hotel room last night.

Anyway, such creative writing I'm getting to do during our trip. There's usually just time to jot down our travels, and we've really had no excapades yet. Unless you call five hours of deed searching adventuresome. I just call it tedious, especially after the forst ninety minutes.

We found an interesting deed recording. The main cahracter in the first part of the novel I'm writing, Madame Rosalie, bought land here in 1793. It wasn't recorded until 1887! No wonder we hadn't found the deed before. We managed to trace three properties back to where they became a maze in the early 1800s.

We offered to let a grocery store customer place our items on her store card, thereby getting the reduced rates while she got the credit. She asked if we had accomodations, and we said yes. Then she said she was assistant manager of hte local Holiday Inn, and if we needed anything to let her know. I responded, "Can you give us a better rate than we already have?" and named the motel. She said no, laughing.

However, things should improve. This is a holiday weekend and we will go to the beach, try to climb Schoodic Mountain (which ISN'T at Schoodic Point), and generally run about having fun and meeting with people.

Have a nice weekend, everyone!    Carolyn
