NEWSLETTER HOST SITE PROBLEM FIXED
By LMBoroLMPark(2,097)
On Sunday evening, May 20 (2007) at 11:27 p.m. (its time) the ProBlogs host site announced they’d “encountered an error on one of our databases which was causing the ProBlogs website to malfunction.” The problem was obvious on Friday evening when I (and others who notified me) were unable to access the site which hosts www.ProBlogs.com/beanerywriters (the Beanery Online Literary Magazine---BOLM---an outgrowth of the Beanery Writers Group); www.ProBlogs.com/CarolynCHolland (a BOLM archive site of my writings) and www.ProBlogs.com/LMBoroLMPark (a newsletter for Laurel Mountain Borough and Laurel Mountain Park). We apologize to our readers for any inconvenience the problem caused. We are back on track now. Continue to visit our sites. We appreciate The ProBlogs site dealt with the error in a timely fashion. “However, we needed to replace the database which contained blog statistics numbers,” the ProBlogs notification read. “Because of this, the number of recorded visits to each blog was reset. “Some of our blogs had over 30,000 visits, and we realize that these members were very proud of how many visitors they had received, as were we.” At the time, www.ProBlogs.com/beanerywriters had reached a count of 32,466 (as of 2:17 p.m. May 18), placing us in the #1 position by over 15,000 hits. Number eight on the top ten list was www.ProBlogs.com/LMBoroLMPark, with 3666 hits recorded at 11:58 a.m. that morning. I estimated within six weeks www.ProBlogs/CarolynCHolland would overtake the #10 position. With the counter reset to zero, the three sites are listed in the first three positions. The challenge for BOLM now is to re-accumulate our hits so as to secure our first-place position. As a BOLM archive site, my “blog” needs to continue receiving enough hits that it holds second place. Hits are important because they indicate the number of persons visiting the Beanery Writers Group site. I liken them to electronic magazine subscribers: they check out our magazine to find interesting reading. The more hits, the more subscribers. These sites have attained their success due to the quality of their presentation and content. We hope our readers will return to these sites on a regular basis and will the sites on their “favs” list to make it easier to check them daily. Thanks to the ProBlogs blog site team for providing the format for our work; to our writers who contribute their work and to our readers for visiting our site. The BOLM looks forward to providing our readers with new posts daily in a variety of genres, and to offering opportunities to writers to share their work with readers. ---Carolyn | |
