Learning to Play

By beanerywriters(11,675)

He places his fingers on the keys. She follows.
He touches one key. She touches another.
Slowly he plays the notes asking her to follow.
“First, tell me what you have named the song.”

The song is a dance of relationship.
As you turn each page and play each note
you will become more fluid.
He touches another key. She follows.

With each finger she follows as he guides her hands.
She watches and listens enjoying the movement, and learning the notes.
The music is soft. There is no force in the rhythm.
Both hands are in sync.
Together they play the song.

He stops and wanders off leaving her with the keyboard and the song.
With one hand she continues to play.

He returns and she is ready again to follow.
He begins again and she listens to him as he leads.
Their hands are now working steadily together fine tuning the song he has chosen.
She continues to follow his lead allowing him his freedom to play.
The harmony is like no other she has encountered.

He stops and wanders off leaving her with the keyboard and the song.
With one hand she continues to play.

He returns again and she is ready to follow him.
He begins again and she listens to him as he leads.
Their hands are now almost complete as if being one.
The melody is divine and heaven is close by.

He stops and wanders off leaving her with the keyboard and the song.
With one hand she continues to play.

He becomes distracted and does not return as often as he had done before.
She continues to play.
He does not return, and she raises her other hand to play his part.

He returns, but in her wholeness, she has learned to play the song, alone.
