Midlife Christis

By beanerywriters(11,675)

Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as EAGLES they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

                                          Midlife Christis

“Abigail, You’ve been mislead by this talk of you becoming a writer. The thought of you sitting, thinking and, making up stories is ridiculous! You cannot sit and write! Another has had an agenda, and you were just a part of his plan.” Abigail’s mother stormed from the room.

“I am a part of HIS plan.” Abigail thought, as she returned to her room to pack the remainder of her belongings. “I’m a part of God’s plan, HIS design, HIS purpose and, His will. She thought of her  mother, and the many times her cross words and accusations had nearly crippled Abigail’s dreams and hopes to move forward into God’s will for her life.
“I love you mom, but, I believe God has a purpose for me, and I am willing to continue to listen to HIS still small voice. I am a child of God.”

Abigail prayed. “God take this from me. Show me how to filter through her words, into yours. I don’t understand. I know the depth, and beauty of your love. I’ve witnessed it. I’ve been a part of it. I’ve longed for it. I’ve waited for it. The answer came. As she searched her memory and heart for strength, she remembered just thirteen years prior, when her faith had been tried.

“Abigail, give the baby a bottle! You can not wait. You can't nurse her. Just give up, and give her a bottle!"

The external voice pulled and tugged at Abigail, but she trusted what she knew to be truth in her soul.

“Mom, the physician said we might suffer. He said she would cry. He said she would thirst. He said I would be tired, irritable, restless, and concerned, but he said the supply would come.”

Abigail handed the newborn to her mother. “Will you hold her? I am going to lie down for forty-five minutes. I will be rested, and she will be ready to nurse again. Abigail’s breasts were swollen, cracked, bleeding; she placed the warm wet cloths on her breasts, then laid her head on the pillow.

“God please bring comfort to mom, to my child, and to me.  I will listen to your voice. Although there are cries and accusations, I know you will bring comfort. I will wait. She closed her eyes.

Shortly after midnight, Abigail woke to the cries of her newborn. The tingling, stirring, and flood of truth and nourishment began as Abigail held her child to her breast.
“I love you mom. God has a purpose and a plan for my life. And, I am willing to listen and wait for HIS still small voice. He hears the cries of His children. I am a child of God.

During each step of life’s journey, there will be times when the cries and accusations surrounding each individual will be loud and demanding for women, as well as men, but if we listen to the still small voice of God, if we wait, if we trust, if we believe in His purpose for our own individual life, the flood of truth and nourishment will come.
