- Chin, Xiao Yi ![]() Mr. Chin Xiao Yi and Tiffy Xiao Kong's hand (w collected ink stone) photo by Catherine Yen June 3, 2002 Chin Xiao Yi, the ex-Director of National Palace Musuem in Taipei was born in 1921, Hun Nan, Herng Shan, he used Shin Po as sobriquet while assuming the literary name. Who passed away on 5th January, 2007, age 87. His study place is named " Yu Ding Ning Kwang". He was respectively called "Xiao Kong" (Kong is saluted as respectable elder person) by the colleagues, followers and most of the people in cultural and art fields. He is a typical cultural person with letters and artistic persona, a characteristic of loyalty and deligence to his country, he is highly esteemed as a life-dictionary in the contemporaty era, his knowledge in the areas of history, literature, poems, essays and arts are competently as a leader, specialized in ancient literature and had a deep investigation of the intricate literate writing.
Xiao Kong had been the secretary to the ex-President of ROC, Chiang Kai Shek when he was young, he was authorized to draft/write the related official documents for Chiang, and acting as the Diector of Taipei National Palace Musuem for 18 years, after his retirement, he was appointed as the Honorable Director of Quantas Cultural and Educational Foundation, which is established by Mr. Lin, Bai Li--the Chairman of Quantas Electronics Company.
Xiao Kong's calligraphy is especially famous and called as "Chin Chuan" ("Chuan" is an ancient caligraphic style), he always render hands to the young artists a full encouragement and likes to give his caligraphy to share it as a joy and happiness in life, he cherishs and collects the arts objects with grace and delicacy, that's the style he treats to the people in gentle and polite way.
He donated all his collectable jade, bone and other treasured objects to National Palace Musuem and NPM held the usual exhibition in its room 105 and 107 .
