Republicans Straddle Hypocrisy but Democrats Can't Throw StonesBy Mike Fak(17,931) ![]() ![]() Posted Friday, September 14, 2007 View All Blog Posts submitted by Mike Fak The Republicans are having a hard time (pardon my choice of words) explaining why Idaho Senator Larry Craig is being shunned by everyone in his party all the while Senator David Vitter, D- La , didnt get the same door slamming him in the butt for having dalliances with ladies of the night.. Craig of course is not gay, never was and according to his daily planner, is not scheduled to be gay anytime soon. The senator, only having pled guilty to a bout of bathroom foot tag is facing fierce opposition to his staying on in the senate. Not so with Vitter. The Louisiana senator, a younger, handsomer man than Craig, was first caught up in his own sex scandal in July when an escort service under indictment turned over their little black book and had Vitter listed under regulars. It is still undetermined if that refers to frequency or how the senator is endowed. The fact that Vitter was caught a few months ago extending his legislative branch of government to professional hookers and the Republicans didnt seem to have a problem with that shows there might be a little bit of the old double standard when it comes to illicit sex buddies. Girls is fine but guys aren't seems to be a Republican mantra. Craig is as welcome in Republican gatherings as a shark is in a swimming pool but since Vitter might have broken his marriage vows with another woman, or women, he should be all right to let into the next pool party. In fact when the beleaguered senator came back to work this summer, he received a standing ovation from his partys peers. I can only assume the escort service which had the senators phone number all gave Vitter rave reviews that were passed around to rank and file in the Republican party.. The difference in how the Republicans are treating these two men shows the hypocrisy of the party right now. It seems it is acceptable to be accused of doing the wild thing with a cute young girl but if a man is involved, whoa, this is really bad and we have to do something about this. When Vitter walks into the congressional office restroom he gets high fives from colleagues, when Craig does the same, everyone runs out whether finished or not. Well everyone but Nancy Pelosi who will suffer anything to be considered one of the boys. The worm (again I apologize for the wording) might have turned on Senator Vitter as a new story is about to come out in that bastion of exceptional journalism known as Hustler Magazine. In the upcoming issue, a professional flatbacker states she had frequent visits from Vitter in 1999 when he was a fledgling member of the U.S. House. It is still unknown how the Republicans will deal with another potential sex scandal. This might be just too much but they dont have to worry about the Democrats saying anything ill about any of these stumbles in morality as the Dems have their own skeletons jiggling around the halls of Congress. Senator Hillary Clinton will stay mum since her own Willie was shown to have the morals of a goat. Surely the powerful Ted Kennedy knows comments on other peoples trysts have to be shied away from lest another book about Chappaquiddick gets published. Then there is also the tale of another Democratic representative from Louisiana, William Jefferson, who has been indicted on 16 federal charges of racketeering, money laundering, and soliciting more than $400,000 in bribes. Investigators even found $93 grand of cold cash in his freezer next to the chicken chunks and pot pies and not only didnt the Democrats demand he resign but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi didnt even give Jefferson a scolding. Remarkably, Jefferson has won a primary runoff in his home state which proves folks from the Bayou state dont mind their congressmen being indicted for freezing assets just as long as they dont get caught with another dude. And so it seems it is business as usual on the hill and if the business has anything to do with money or sex or utter hypocrisy, business is very good. This Blog Post has been read 382 times.
