THE CAREGIVER by Jane Lipsius
"I don't feel very well." I said one day.
I watch it in his eyes as all life stops. He wants to help and doesn't know what to do. I don't know what to do.
I watch it in his eyes as his work and his free time are forgotten. I see him grow old and afraid before me.
"I don't feel very well and I think I am dieing." I tell him.
I watch it in his eyes as tears form. He holds on to me. He believes me.
Gently he holds me. "I will grieve until the end of my days." he tells me.
His path in life, so much more difficult than mine, travels on each day with strength.
I wonder why I did this to him. I set this path before him that he could not refuse because he loves me.
The Caregiver...The Caring Giver, holds me in comfort as I fade. He pillows me with his words and his actions.
The Caring Giver comforts me in his heart.
