An interesting trend has been slowly infiltrating main stream culture, and that is the presence of 'escorts'.

 

I can still remember the days when a person who had sex with someone for money was called a Prostitute and someone who was paid to accompany someone to a function was called an Escort. But it seems that the Prostitutes have assumed the title 'Escort' for themselves and in doing so have somehow lessened the shock value of what it is they do for a living.

 

Meanwhile, there are still some escorts out there who are not prostitutes who merely do as it says on the box, and no more. I can't imagine they are so keen to announce their job title anymore, kind of like how a masseuse may be reluctant to say they work in a massage parlor as that is another area where prostitutes have claimed it as their own.

 

Let's call a spade a spade. If you have sex for money whether it be in the film industry, in private or in a massage parlor, you are a prostitute. Stop trying to glamorize it. I can't imagine that there is really anything glamorous about it, despite the recent attempts by the media to make it so with 'Diary of  Call Girl' and other such nonsense.

 

Disease, assault, robbery, not all that grand really.
