Bird Flu - Pandemic - Biological weapon?By Creative(51,573) ![]() ![]() Posted Sunday, November 18, 2007 View All Blog Posts submitted by Creative There is a lot in the News right now about the H5N1 strain of the flu virus. Health authorities fear that the H5N1 strain or its descendents could cause a flu pandemic set to kill billions of humans.
Is this fear mongering re the pandemic a real possibility? If so then we have much to fear not just from birds it seems. Am I the only one wondering if the bird flu has been ‘adapted’ in a lab so it passes from birds to humans? A biological weapon of sorts. Population control perhaps? An experiment that escaped the lab? This seems unimaginable but apparently author of The Lazarus Strain, Dr Ken McClure, has indeed imagined it already. The book is a HN51 bird Flu chiller. He combines fact with fiction to create his chilling tale, which details how this virus could have escaped a secure lab. Book synopsis HERE . It should also be noted that Dr McClure has a PhD in molecular genetics. Not only this but it has already happened. Foot and Mouth virus recently escaped secure Catagory A establishment Pirbright. The final report on that matter can be viewed HERE.
In an interview with BBC Radio Southern Counties in August 07, Dr Ken McClure is asked about Pirbright. Dr McClure said: He was referring to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory otherwise known as Dstl where it is thought that biological weapons are researched amongst other things. The implication being that if it can happen once it can happen again and this time something potentially more serious.
