Who to complain to about Government policy or services - UK

In the UK there are various high profile people who you can communicate directly with if we are having problems with certain Government services and need help solving them or we might object to Government policy and want to offer our opinions and suggestions.

I have found a great little site that with the insertion of your postcode you easily locate all the people in your area that can help you with these matters.

I myself write regularly to my local Member of Parliament and he has always been very helpful in resolving problems with certain tax credit calculation delays and many other things. I also write to him with concerns I have about government policy and helpful suggestions I may have. These letters are always forwarded to the relevant Government personnel that are responsible and I get prompt replies. The replies may not always be satisfactory but one thing is guaranteed, and that is that I have been heard and hopefully my opinion counted and noted.

So my recommendation to you is that rather than complaining to your neighbors and friends about the state of your country write a constructive letter about your views to those responsible. Let your voice be heard and your opinion counted. Do this constructively rather than critically and certainly not abusive.

The site that can give you access to the people in the UK is HERE. The site advises you of who can help and with what. My word of caution re that site is this: the emails you send via that site are clearly read by those managing the site, so if you want to ensure confidentiality between you and your MP or whoever, then just use the site to get the names of those you need to speak to then Google their contact details and email them direct rather than via this site. That is the way I intend to use it. I don't see any need myself in communicating via a third person, but the information on the site is still very valuable.

Good luck.
