Wot no Father Christmas?By Creative(51,596) ![]() ![]() Posted Sunday, December 23, 2007 View All Blog Posts submitted by Creative My children have received a personal visit from Father Christmas every Christmas Day since they were born. But now they are aged 4 and 5yrs old and very street smart, I am certain they will know the paunchy chap swaggering down the stairs, dressed in red with huge sack of toys, is their father and NOT Santa Claus.
So, the plan was not to do that anymore and hope the kids wouldn't notice his absence.
Not so. My daughter asked me yesterday. "Mummy, is Father Christmas coming to see us this year?"
"erm..no" I replied. "He's coming in the night, and as you saw him in the Grotto recently, didn't think you'd mind."
Daughter starts to feign a sob. " I do mind mummy, I want Father Christmas to come on Christmas Day."
So I am left with a dilemma, Option 'a' is that Daddy dresses up yet again as Father Christmas and we run the risk of daddy being discovered faking it, and all the memories of Christmas past possibly being ruined, or option 'b' I stand firm and we preserve the past memories but have minor disappointment hence forth, every Christmas until they finally realize he's not real.
I am opting for option 'b'.
Wish me luck!
