Clemens on 60 Minutes January 6, Does It Matter?By Rob Trahan(12,251) ![]() ![]() Posted Friday, December 28, 2007 View All Blog Posts submitted by Rob Trahan Clemens finally gave everyone their Christmas wish with a video statement that he posted on YouTube, with a more detailed interview to follow. He will appear with Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes on January 6 and, apparently, no question will go unanswered. Except one. Will it matter? The furor surrounding Clemens has been for either an official denial or an official admission about using steroids and HGH. We wanted Roger to come out once and for all and clear the air. But are we satisfied? Will we be satisfied on January 7? Will we accept his version of the story if it doesn't have at least some confession of using a performance enhancing drug at least once in his life? Let's look at the facts. The accusations come from his former strength trainer, Brian McNamee, who also accused Andy Pettitte of using HGH. Beyond some cancelled checks, there's no real hard evidence for, and I'm assuming against, McNamee's accusations. It comes down to one man's word against another's. But here's the kicker, Pettitte admitted to using HGH, adding credence to McNamee's side of the story. Why would he lie about Clemens and not about Pettitte? I'll admit I have a hard time believing Clemens at this point. His ego has been well documented. And if you think he has nothing to lose now that he's retired, you have another thing coming. Clemens has always been mindful of his place in history and you better believe that he won't do anything at this point to put that in jeopardy, including admitting to using PEDs 10 years ago. This isn't over yet. I don't know what the outcome is, but I'm definitely going to stay tuned! This Blog Post has been read 174 times.
