Christmas Aftermath – Broken toys and Broken HeartsBy Creative(54,965) ![]() ![]() Posted Friday, January 04, 2008 View All Blog Posts submitted by Creative Several weeks of build up to this big day and then boom, does it go well or does it sink like a lead balloon?
My Christmas was very pleasant this year, no family quarrels, the turkey cooked well and the kids were delighted with their gifts. There were though of course the usual Christmas breakages; the toys that didn’t see it through till Boxing Day. The chocolate coin moneybox where the chocolate and coins get jammed after very enthusiastic and sugar heightened play. The toys, which require assembly and thus are easily disassembled by the children, except considerably quicker! I spend 2hrs assembling, they spend 2 seconds dismantling. Not broken, but unlikely to be reassembled!
I try not to get cross about Christmas breakages. I can remember only too well my tears when my brother and I broke many of our new toys on Christmas day. It’s just part and parcel of Christmas.
So what of the Broken hearts? This hasn’t affected me as yet, but I know that many relationships end at this time of year, either just before or worse on the actual day. I am not sure whether it is the pressure of Christmas bringing things to a head or the fact that one or both parties don’t wish to carry on into a new year together. I survived this Christmas, had a lovely relaxing time, aside from no Internet service for over a week! I hope you enjoyed yours and it passed without too many breakages.
