I have the utmost respect and esteem, but do you?

By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936) Robert Melaccio, sr

If we have respect and esteem for someone then would we lie about them or tear them down? No, I think not. We can disagree as adults and say, I do not agree with so and so because here is what I perceive and why, but do we? I just noticed during this campaign the candidates consistent reference to "I hold so and so in the highest esteem or regard" which translates in to I respect him or her, or is it really contempt and sarcasms? In my opinion the latter. Why, because they will respond directly and in kind. So let me ask this, just how can they have esteem for someone who is misrepresenting them, lying about them, distorting their record or character and ability, etc? Do they really hold that other in high esteem or respect them? Well the answer you already know.

They then say it is to be expected in politics which in essence one is supposed to think it is somehow all right. Well not right but that is the way it is. We all hear from them the need to keep things at a higher level. That means don;t tell my dirty laundry and I won't tell yours. Well I find no fault with that it is called trust. We keep what we know to ourseleves and do not spread it unjustly. So, in my opinion if that doesn’t say a bunch about the bunch then what does? What does that say to you? Rhetorically if we can say anything we want, distort anything we care to, lie, connive and spread false information for the sake of gaining office just what does that say about the character of that person throughout life?

If this is the case then please tell me why we or you would want a person like this in office and can we can say we "trust them"?

Example, last evening watching the Republican "debate" they said more then just words. They ridiculed, they made gestures, jokes, off the cuff comments and facial expressions, rolled eyes and in essence tried to tear down their opponent in any negative way possible. Did they really address the issues? In my opinion NO. The same tired responses over and over. In fact even the announcer got into the act.

Can’t they debate on the issues and their differences and at a higher level? Can they keep everything focused on the issues and their solutions, well sadly in my opinion, NO. In my opinion, aside from a few, like Ron Paul there is no real difference and I am not endorsing Mr. Paul but he does stand out from all the rest very distinctly. Yet, as I stated above, that’s right none. They really have no answers for the economic mess because they brought it on us all. Pick a topic and I will be happy to discuss it with you. Sadly, they really are perplexed and continue down this Global ideology path which rewards the rich at the expense of the many. In my opinion their schooling evidently never took into account real life situations, all theory.

So as they go along, carefully choosing their words, while hinting and dropping that despairing remark here or there they sup with each other and then call each other "my good friend"," my colleague", etc. They deliver bills together and work together on issues they all agree on regardless of party. Why, because in my opinion they all are really of the same ilk. The same ideology, the same social class, the same educational background, the same economic order and they all belong to most of the same social organization. They are in my opinion all birds of a feather.

So when you hear "I respect my colleague" listen closely because the boom will surely follow. As for change, in my opinion the only real change out of this bunch, like him or not is really Mr. Paul.  Unfortunately, the word of this Century, without a change in Congress in my opinion he can do little to nothing.
