Respect for diversity of opinion sure but consensus to move forward.By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936) ![]() ![]() Posted Thursday, January 17, 2008 View All Blog Posts submitted by Robert Melaccio, sr Well in my opinion we all need to respect the diversity of opinions concerning our current situation here in these United States. However, the fact that there is so much varied opinion is of itself demonstrating no one evidently seems to know just what is right, or what they support, or who they even want to vote for anymore. About the only thing many of us actually are of the same opinion on is that we need change. I assume that is a good first step. So just what is that change we all seek together and how do we effect that? There are so many opinions over every topic from the war to illegal workers to the economy and so on one understands why our leaders don’t know what we want as a nation and frankly go their own way. We are by fact a divided bunch with no focus and no commitment. Rhetorically is it that we want it all, what makes us feel good and is good for us individually and the hell with the rest? Like the spoiled child have we come to that? Morality, ethics, character seem to mean little. Laws, sin, covetousness and anything else that works for our individual benefit seems to be ok. So what we get are leaders who provide a menu, depending on where they are speaking, of what they would do. Have enough menu’s and you just may win the election. In Michigan it is jobs, in Iowa something else, in South Carolina, a high vet state, the war and so on and so forth. Whoever sounds the best and says the right things gets the nod and that from a minority of people who the press says guides the nation. Now who and how to bring about real change is up for grabs. Just what is it we want changed? Certainly you know, but is it the same as your neighbor? Every candidate, although the architects of some portion of this fiasco, all claim to be the ones to bring about change. What they never seem to address is how they got us to this point to begin with. Yes, these are the very same people who drove the car here. They have been in the drivers seat for years. They have delivered what We the People ordered, chaos, confusion and finacial woe and we have given them card blanche to do whatever they want to do. That is the minority who vote and the majority who sit home and complain. So rhetorically I ask once again, why would anyone and I do mean anyone, think these same people can bring about change and change we "supposedly" all want? I will bypass the die hard, the don’t knows, the want types and social changers and get right to the point, how can we have so many diverse views about who can solve our problems and expect anything to come from it? What does that say about our leaders? What does it say about the sheep? You got it, no Shepard no direction and they wander aimlessly. That is unless the person in charge has their own idea, ideology or agenda and since no one really cares that is what they will give us. So why this quandry? The reason is really and in a nut shell there are none in the entire group we trust and none who has and get this demonstrated they can lead and actually make change. Oh sure they all tell you they did this and they did that and they believe in this and they believe in that but where the tire meets the road they always seem to do something else and blame everyone else because they weren’t able to follow through. Yet the fact is they do lead. That is by fact in the direction they want to go and to take this nation. So we expect our leaders to get the job done, end of story. Most of these "Presidential level" candidates worked hard to try to pass the Comprehensive Immigration Bill didn’t they? Well we all know where that went because a majority of us didn’t want it passed. Yes a majority agreed on something. Some people who fought harder for the majority won out. Yet, very quietly they who lost are working to get that done. We have to admire their persistence if not their integrity. They don't mention that too much on the campaign trail do they? We will deal with that later.
So the American people are perplexed as to just who they want to see as President. Let me ask you this, why does it matter? Frankly the Republicans evidently have no one people can agree on because in my opinion they are so far removed from every day life they just don’t know anything about reality. Think not, then listen to what they say and believe. In my opinion by nature of that and what they do, they are in the world of the haves and really have lost perspective on average America. Yes, the rest of America seems perplexed as to just what these people really stand for and really just who they represent, us or is it only big business interests? A lot of talk about a lot of things for the middle class and average Americans but no substance. You know no meat and potatoes and the same things that lower wages, lose jobs, etc. You know what, how, when? Well you know if you dare to read the finance pages you will find where their heart lies and where all the billions really go.
The Democrats, well I don’t know why myself but many see them as a hope. In reality when you listen to them they are just that a hope. In many cases they go along with everything these Republicans do, but yet the thought is why not give them a chance? Did we not just give them the ball and have they done much to change things? Oh, sure some fluff here and there but something that puts money in your pocket, ends the war? Yes, these same types people are going crazy over. yes, these so called leaders. So, in my opinion that’s great go ahead and pass power to the same bunch with a different name. Rhetorically like from one Communist to another to use only as an example. After all the things that have fallen upon America couldn’t be unless there was a majority in Congress to bring them about and these are the peole who are in Congress. So, do opinions and opinions and opinions rule the day and really in the end it matters not who is President. Republican or Democrat the same old tired ideology, way and path, that is in my opinion of course. Frankly, in my opinion while they brag of leadership like I said, do we really see any that helps us? What really matters to the majority of Americans, who by the way are of the opinion that Congress is a do nothing, wasteful, for themselves group of incapable public servants is to change them all. I am of the opinion that if this nation and all voters of every party gave careful consideration to what I am saying a majority of us would all be of the same opinion. That this is a fact, except for those I defined earlier who it doesn’t matter to. Yes, we will remain undecided concerning Iraq, Illegal Workers and a host of other key issues. Therefore we will in my opinion reap what we sow. Why, because a house divided cannot stand. Cliche yes, fact also. So what is the answer and I am open to any and all suggestions, that is which are polite, besides a clean sweep of all out of office. It is really quite simple. If we implement what we profess we are as good decent people and we obey the laws of the God that we profess, or the Golden Rule we say we adhere to, then we will solve all of our issues by resurrecting integrity, morals, character, truth and the attributes of decent people everywhere back into our systems. Then regardless of their religion or not, we will have compassion, mercy, respect and love of neighbor, respect for law and the rule of law, we would not institute greed and covet more. We would do what is right regardless of party.Sadly, in my opinion many will not even agree with this. We are, like it or not, a house divided by nature of what is happening, our views and what we condone and do. We are because there is no leader of We the People and there is no leader for We the People only wondering sheep. So can anything change without a change in the type of leaders in Congress? In my opinion NO. Do we expect us all to agree, no. Many will say that is what makes us great, it is also the reason for a house divided. Some real suggestions for improving the economy. Ok, why not a third party candidate? And people really vote for these types, it says it all. |
