Ok, why not a third party candidate?By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936) ![]() ![]() Posted Saturday, January 19, 2008 View All Blog Posts submitted by Robert Melaccio, sr Certainly many and I do mean many Americans do not like any of the bunch that is running for President from any party. They are literally yearning for an alternative. It seems the time is ripe for a thrid party candidate? However, like I have been saying what alternatives are there?
Well once again when we think of third parties we really need to focus on a key word, unity, which does not appear with any of these third parties. In my opinion They are sadly like the many Christian denominations, all believing in a central idea but all having different approaches and beliefs.
So what we see is a fragmented vote for multiple third parties. Some here, some there, but no victory. Frankly they usually help one party or the other, or a person here or there to win because they draw away from the party they most dislike and who needs those voters.
The second factor is in my opinion they rarely bring no real candidates of change or national stature that can speak to consituents all across the nation and not just in one region. Sadly, they also are usually very similar in beliefs and in economic status to the other candidates so just what do they really offer? So when we go down the entire list of possibiliities do we really see any with different perspectives and views? So just where and who is the choice? The last thing is they never have the tools necessary to win, campaign workers, marketing, money until it is almost too late to matter.
So, let us continue with assuming these third parties do pool their resources, just where is this candidate out there among 300 million Americans they can select to really represent that 60% of us who do not vote? Yes, who will make us come out to vote for them, because it isn't going to be that 40% who you already know who they want.
So lets say for arguments sake a third party or two with similar goals and objectives gets together and selects a candidate we all can live with for the sake of the nation. Lets say it is a mixture of John Edwards and a conservative like Ron Paul or some other conservative who is running? Both well known with professed views established and people know them. They have spent the money already and have functionaing organizations and marketing. What they don't have is a party behind them. Something that takes them "up a notch" as Emril would say.
Now what does that do for us who do not like these other candidates? Well it can make a change and a big one. However, this is key, it also sends a clear message to the power brokers who in my opinion will now have a little less arrogance and that they better perk up and pay attention. So, as example we need someone with national recognition. Mr. Edwards are you listening and are you third parties as well? The time to strike is now and sooner then later. Otherwise, to be frank it is all in my opinion a waste of time, effort and money because it will all remain the same regardless of the rhetoric. candidates have to get on the ballots, they need money, they need organization or why bother. But before any of this can even happen these parties need unity. Before, during and after otherwise it is all a waste of effort. So if you know of someone else with national prominence and who can appeal and cross all lines, then lets hear you speak out. Otherwise get ready for more of the same. I know what I will do election day regardless, do you? Robert Melaccio, Sr. Copyright 2008 © Robert Melaccio Sr. 2008 This Blog Post has been read 220 times. If Hilary wins for the Democrats I don't see a choice but to go 3rd party. Leave a Public Comment or Question: And people really vote for these types, it says it all. This election is not about those who HAVE NOT. Some real suggestions for improving the economy, part 2. Washington is broken, just when did it ever work?
