Big Banks Profits are down.By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936) ![]() ![]() Posted Thursday, January 24, 2008 View All Blog Posts submitted by Robert Melaccio, sr Ok Big banks profits are down. So are we supposed to weep for them after years and years of dramatic if not immoral record profits? Now we all know profits are after all expenses have been paid. Their profit margin may not have been as high and dividends lower but they made money. Hey, some companies operate continually in the red. Yes, in my opinion they made it off of the backs of all those they will not extend credit to any longer. You know, the ones they charge 31% and more on credit cards, those ARM and Interest only loans. Yes on their 22, 26. 28. 32% interest, fees, charges and we should not forget their business write offs. Yes, these same people called average Americans who are struggling to keep up because they pushed them closer, and do not for a second think they didn't help, or over the edge. Now if we want to look realistically at perhaps why this all came about you do not have to look to far. Maybe it’s because they farmed all of their American operations off shore like many of the Big Internationals? Maybe because many average Amreicans are now unemployed or working multiple or even one low wage job and that is a factor? People just do not have the money to pay them any longer? Perhaps it is all the money spent on multiple harassing telephone calls placed day and night from 8 am until 9 pm from India? Perhaps it is because they depreciated the value of your home to where you have no equity and even if you did they could care less? Perhaps you had $40,000 or more and now you owe them more then the home is worth. Perhaps it is those credit reporting agencies they use that lower your score drastically to where you are become what they call a risk you can’t get anything, not even a job any longer, that is if there were a job to get? Yes, like the person who takes drugs they played the game and it finally caught up with them. So now we see "our" Free Market leadership trying to bail them out desperately pumping billions and trying anything and everything to keep it all going. Yes and all of a sudden these politicians want to change what they did. Ok I’ll say that again, change what they did. Yes, don’t let them say differently just check their record . In my opinion it is a moral issue of the highest magnitude. Oh, so I'll give you that many are now concerned because earnings went or are going down as well? Rhetorically, could it be you are part of the problem be electing this bunch and approved what this bunch is doing and did? Yes, once again like the drug addict after their high it all comes back to reality. Well the answer to recovery is right under their noses. Yet, in my opinion they will never see it. You see people need good jobs, decent paying jobs, long term jobs. It is really as simple as that. They had them but no longer. So are we to feel sorry for them? Do they feel sorry for you when your late on your Credit Card? Do they give you an extension? Does anyone pump money into your account to keep you going? Well we know the answer to all that don’t we. Yet, these people really call themselves financial wizards, bankers? I have another totally different name for them.
In my opinion they are the cause of their own problems. As for "our" leaders they will continue the same fantasy approach of pumping our tax money into shoring up these Global entities because that is all they know. They really believe the Free Market is the answer. Well here is one for all of you to ponder. Did Allstate Insurance do what they agreed to in Florida? That’s right they filled for a 42% increase after their agreement with that state to lower costs and they were given less and less risk all picked up by those nice people in Florida, who are called, citizens. Yes and these Free Market politicans are now upset, really.
So with their pumping billions and the stimulus package being done will that work in the short haul? In my opinion certainly, but like any band aide if the cut is deep it may need more then that. No, in my opinion what they want is for those who they killed to give what we taxpayers have left to bail them out and those who we elected will do just that. How plain does it have to get? Have we lost our street smarts?
However, the real concern is does that really solve the LONG TERM situation in this nation? If you think it does, then think again my friend. Does it solve the low wage, go no where jobs, does it improve the credit crunch? Well unless you have a score over 720 [ha] you just won’t get that credit. Frankly, the ones with that score don’t need it. So, think about this? Will all those new jobs they talk about pay a living wage, provide benefits, health care? Common now think about it, what kind of jobs? They don’t even know and in my opinion any good ones will go offshore to Green Card holders. Just stop and listen. Then again let us ask, will you or your children be able to afford to buy a new car? Will young couples be able to save 20% for a down payment on a home much less save at all? How much more does one have to say? So I do feel the stimulus in the short haul will create good news for those the money is bailing out. The investors and bankers. We see it already in the offshore buying where really all our money is. However, don’t expect much to come your way, in my opinion this really isn't about you. However, will we all see in about a years time if we are not in the same place? Back to being that Lolli Pop world of suckers. I for one prefer to be wrong. I could live with that, hopefully. However, in relaity the signs and symbols are all about us. Look at your children, the neighbors, young people and old and the message is clear. So, I just thought I’d end this article with this information, which I do think underscores what I am saying. Mexico is evidently going through a boom. One can only speculate why? Maybe you should go to Michigan and ask those Auto workers? Now this is certainly ok for them and when one looks at how these people are exploited it is about time they got a few crumbs, although they are ours. Perhaps if we wait long enough all their citizens who are here as illegal workers will pack up and go home on their own for those better jobs?
Rhetorically, maybe that is what these candidates have implemented? Bring America to them and solve all our problems with immigration. Now that sure does sound familiar doesn't it? Perhaps this may sound harsh but I think it is a legitimate question, one has to wonder just what will America have to offer any longer?
PS: I minute ago Associated Press reports WASHINGTON - Democratic and Republican congressional leaders reached a tentative deal Thursday on tax rebates of $300 to $1,200 per household and business tax cuts to jolt the slumping economy. What does that give to low income workers and households who don't pay that much in? Well read my earlier articles to find out. Rhetorically, do they really care?

The message resonates loud and clear. What does your credit score mean to the average and poor? What conservative or liberal has come to mean to me. Just who are these candidates? The Talk Of Change Is The Latest Scam You now have the audacity to say you can bring change. |
