The issue of stay here good jobs part 2.

Yes, this is in my opinion the major issue for this nation. That is, providing blue collar and average citizens who have graduated high school or received a GED and not been able to go to college and yes even college graduates with a B.S. degree a good paying, long term, stay here job with a future and decent pay to support family. If you think this couple of hundred for this  stimulas package is going to change all this, then think again. Perhaps with all the billions being pumped into the market and this there may be a short upswing. Yet, in the long run it does little to nothing. Why, well continue reading.

Now to think higher unemployment, low wage jobs, debt rising is something that just started recently is to show how ignorant some are of the real situation. This has been developing over the last two or three years in increasing percentages. It has now in my opinion reached epidemic levels for average Americans and it will eventually impact the haves even more then it is already. Of course our government brags about all the new jobs they created and how well the economy is doing and of course I find myself day in and day out having to consistently wanting to tell others the reminder of the story. Why, who knows, certainly to many it doesn't even phase them. Now I know why Paul Harvey was able to build a career off of it. There is plenty out there to go around.

So we all know know that good paying jobs have been declining as rapidly as created.  American jobs go to China and India, the Philippines, Mexico and Canada and parts unknown or Green Card , illegal workers, here in this country, or as I mentined Outsourcing services located offshore.  Just pick up the phone each day to confirm that. These leaders also brag, yes brag, about raising the minimum wage to $6.79 an hour but companies require and job seekers find they need specific expertise, years of experience and even a college degree to evidently secure a no experience, trainee, entry level job paying $7.00 an hour. They don’t tell you along with that they cut the number of work hours, hiring more and more part time help or as stated above what percentage went to foreigners. Of course the candidates for the most part all say they will bring back jobs. yes and everyone  gets up, cheers and thinks of it as the second coming. Yes,, and from the same ones who brought you this mess. I have another word of this century to "unfortunately" and I have added added "unbelievable"!
So to assist in some sort of reasonable consideration I have provided some facts. I know who needs facts we like the package. So here is a sample right off of the Florida state job search site for a specific county. Search Criteria= Yours

County for search ____Yours___________

Type of Position Entry, no experience__

Search, all groups ______All__________

Today I located a total of 9 for the entire county. A county with large numbers of unemployed average Americans. I venture to say it is the same for your area? Here are some job opportunities.

1- Outside sales, commission. Now anyone support a family while in debt, making zero dollars and running around with gas prices the way they are, right? What choice one might say. That is until the lights go out. 2- Part Time $7.00 an hour , less then 20 hours a week. 3- Warehouse support, minimum wage, do everything they want of you and you must have a CDL license. 4- Auto Sales, commission 1 to 2 years proven experience. 5-Sales support $7.78 hour based on experience it can go higher. Set up store displays, heavy lifting, part time.

So let me ask you what you think? What do blue collar, high school, labor and average type workers have to look forward to? Well just go to your state or government unemployment agency and get the bad news facts. Sorry, I forgot, no one wants facts.

In a recent article in the local Times it spoke to future job growth expectations for this particular county and it painted a rosy projection. I have nothing wrong with projections or what they printed. Perhaps what it implied? Rhetorically, good news for indoctrination I presume? However, what I address is what is in my opinion, "the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey say’s.

Example, iIn the article published from a reliable excellent source, the report spoke of Life Services, which is Health Care and those type professional services, along with government, education opportunities as the predominant growth professions. However, all one has to do to confirm these are already the predominant professions in this specific county is to go to the government site and check it out. It has always been that. That it will increase there is no doubt, nothing new here. Needless to say that with the expected retirement of baby boomers this would certainly be a growth area. Also it is fair to say if you follow it regularly you will note these jobs vacancies remain open for quite sometime and unfilled. Rhetorically one could presume they can’t get the right people for the jobs or have a high turnover? Yet, I find it strange that on the last trip to the hospital with mom many workers were from off shore. Rhetorically, we might ask could it just be costs verses American workers expertise?

Now when we get to the issue of blue collar, entry level, no experience and even part time type jobs that many with a Ged, High School, some College or even a Bachelors degree go after, we fall into that low wage, limited opportunity category. Throw in those who drop out and you have people on the streets, crime and social issues, more taxes. That is a fact.

So here are extracts from the report which I have my own opinion on as to what I perceive the numbers show and how it will impact this particular county. According to the report. As I read it, there is an expected 10.6% growth in the retail sector. Ok, we all know these type of jobs and what they pay, enough said. There is 16.6% growth in technical and computer technology, but and this is significant, they qualify that with many possibly going to Outsourcing which is a significant impact to watch for and could effect this forecast considerably. They expect 55% of peole seeking education will go into these fields to secure work. However, what does this mean to the people of this county? In my opinion it means possibly green card holders or foreign companies taking these jobs. Ok, should we Americans and those residents be concerned and upset?

Then again 25% of these new positions are expected to go to lab type Life Services technical jobs. So, as i mentioned above, how many going to school and graduating will get a job in the field of their choice and schooling? Well here is an example, according to the media and from government and school statistics and as I understand it out of approximately 500 graduates about 10% at most will find employment in their field of training. Just how many technical job openings can there be? So why would we be spending this money when there is limited opportunity? Will they then be retooled into another field? How many times only one can guess. I won’t even tell you what these are advised you wouldn’t believe it anyway.

Of course 20% of growth is in the financial /clerical / administrative field professional. Ok, do we not know these jobs are more low end jobs. $7.00, $8.00 perhaps $10.00 tops an hour. In other words $20,000 a year tops gross. If you could survive on one is a different issue. In skilled labor and manufacturing and construction 10%. Does that say anything?

So approximately as I see it and in my opinion 75% go to the high end college educated type technical positions and of them what portion of that to non county residents? That is not to say these say people will not eventually become residents, but it does speak to what about those already here? What does that say for blue collar type workers where the biggest opportunity is and where the problems this nation faces is about? I don’t know about you but it means if you are lucky you will have one of those low paying jobs, perhaps even one or two, to survive. Rhetorically, perhaps that Locksmith, security advice isn’t so bad after all?

So this is but one county. I am sure there are many like it and some better or worse. The point being there is a problem with average Americans and job opportunities. It is great to say everyone needs to go to college and another thing in reality. In my opinion logic and reality have eluded many Americans and certainly these so called leaders and I think that is the problem.

So just where will the good paying, stay here, long term jobs be for average Americans? Will the good ones be Outsourced? Yes, does great for the haves doesn’t it. [see PS below] They get more money for the economy form foreign workers but what does it say about American workers? No answer here right? Trust in the "Free Market" to do the right thing, right? Oh, by the way, I’m thinking of selling Easter Bunnies. There seems to be a huge demand in America.

So I do hope you got a little better picture of what the picture is supposed to bring. Remember these are projections not facts. Yet, if true, in my opinion, it does not bode well for average Americans.

PS: I couldn't help placing this latest right off the press  [2/07/2008] comment to illustrate it any better. Its nice for Senator Larmar Alexander of Tennessee to think and as he expressed on the telecast from the Senate floor today, that increasing visa's for talented people from India to come here and help us increase jobs in America is a good idea.  Perhaps the people of Tennessee need to send this man to India since he evidently has no belief in Americans? Perhaps he can turn their economy around like ours? Also, he also mentioned giving incentives to those who buy foreclosed homes. Rhetorically, never mind helping people stay in them?
