We the people of the United States says it all.

By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936) Robert Melaccio, sr

The Constitution of the United States of America

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America"......

So rhetorically just how can we relate this statement to our current leadership, our Congress, our government in what they do? How can We the People in truth, in honesty, in fact say, that our elected government is and has promoted the general welfare, secured the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity?

Now key words here are [general welfare, secured, posterity]. So with that as an opening let me present this as an argument for consideration.

1-Has this government by nature of their non securing of our borders and with the knowledge of our leaders allowing millions of undocumented, illegal workers to cross our borders, reside and work, steal identity and to this day having not stopped or resolved this critical security issue provided security for us and our prosperity?

2-Has our government entered into treaties that favor foreign nations over our own, thus inflecting financial and major industrial impact to our nation and our citizens?

3-Has sworn enemies of this nation prospered at our expense with the tacit approval and even knowledge of our leaders?

4-Is it a fact by nature of our current economic crisis that the future for all Americans and average Americans is questionable and certainly expectations have been lowered?

5- Has foreign powers gained technology, manufacturing, money and wealth and committed espionage on our shores possibly undermining our nations security and even survival?

6-Have by their works and deeds allowed for by law and deed and by what they did or failed to do allowed for a redistribution of wealth to the most wealthiest and thus ignored the general welfare of average citizens and all Americans?

So has our government, those who are and have been a part of that government for years and who now by nature of words wish to now separate, disown or disavow their association with that body even while playing a significant role in that bodies actions as responsible for this? Are not those who approve and participate by nature of their vote acquiescing by their actions and in doing so become an accomplice to the deeds?

Certainly I have written enough to the issues in my other articles. What I am addressing here is what in my opinion is a failure of the majority of those who are and have been elected representatives of We the People to do what is right, just and correct for We the People. Bar none at one level or another they have all been a part, or are a part in government and business works which have brought this about and no words of future change or making a difference can subtract from those works. Certainly of them all Mr. Huckerbee can lay claim to be a true Washington outsider. Yet, is he?

So, I ask you this, if you claim you are a person of principal, truth, belief, decency, honesty, integrity, intelligence or at least logic then I only ask you to examine why if 80% of America feels these people, yes these same ones running for office and who have been part of all the problems and that body  that have failed us, why we, or anyone, would want them back in office? In fact by their own words they speak to their tenure.

The argument that you are voting for the lessor of all evils does not in my opinion stand the test because you are sacrificing your values and you by your vote or non vote an accomplice to the continuation of that mentioned herein and deeds as yet to unfold. In my opinion you cannot be what you profess because you are not willing to stand up for those very values you profess to hold.

So what can we do you ask? Americans we can no longer buy the Easter Bunny, the Book by its Cover if we are to remain a nation and people of integrity, honesty, belief. Sorry, in my opinion we cannot. No the answer is as clear as a clear day. We must take to the polls and vote all of them who are now in office or running for re election out. Empty every single seat in Congress because that is where the battle is and regardless of state or party.

You just might ask what good will that do? Will we get any better? That is not the issue and please keep that in mind. When you say we know what we have you answer your own question. Do we lose or gain anything more by voting in new people? Perhaps not but then again, perhaps, maybe, just maybe we will have made a real change. We will have at least sent a message loud and clear to the two major parties. Now when you replace the rich with the rich it is certainly a toss up, yet there are people of values who have money.  So what will it accomplish;

1- Change, in that the old is on notice We the People will change you when you place us second.

2- Change, in that perhaps a few are enough to tilt the scales.

We have no more chances because if you continue to vote for that which gives us more of the same, and you should understand they all are the same by deed and word, make no mistake about it and regardless of their fine rhetoric and speech, you will be an accomplice and actually you will reap what you sow. Do I expect Americans will do this. Sadly, no, in my opinion they will continue to gripe and complain and "Wonder Why" and even believe they made change.

I do not agree with our President much but the AP reported today  he said, "The stakes in November are high. This is an important election. Prosperity and peace are in the balance," GWB. How true that statement is. I only add the question, whose prosperity? How does it equate to what I have been writing to?
