Valentines Day – How to make it specialBy Creative(51,639) ![]() ![]() Posted Sunday, February 10, 2008 View All Blog Posts submitted by Creative It’s that time of year again. Red heart shaped balloons are in great abundance and all the gift shops are rubbing their hands with glee as the foot fall increases for this annual celebration of love. So how can you make Valentines Day special for your loved one? Here are my five top tips for making your valentine feel special
Rather than buying a giant readymade card decorated with red roses and love hearts, you could have a go at making a card yourself. Look on the Internet for inspiration (search for handmade valentines cards) or try to identify things that are reminiscent of the first day you met your partner and incorporate those into the design. This personal touch will mean the world to your loved one, as it will take time and consideration to make.
Rather than buying a bouquet of red roses, if you have a garden consider buying a rose tree that can be planted out. A tree is a daily reminder of what it represents, where as roses will eventually wither and die and end up in the dustbin!
If you have great cooking skills and are not usually the one who cooks, a home cooked dinner with romantic lighting and music can be a special treat. Alternatively, book a table at a nice restaurant and enjoy a lovely romantic meal out.
Start the day by leaving little love notes around the home for your partner to come across as they go through their daily routine. Put them in places you know they’ll find them.
If you want to buy a special valentines gift for your partner, consider what they might like and find special. Chocolates are not a great gift if your partner is dieting, but otherwise for the chocoholics out there, Valentines Day is a time when you might expect them. If you have some time you could buy a heart shaped chocolate mould and make your own chocolate heart. Use an icing pen to write a special message on it. Jewellery is a more expensive gift option, but if you were thinking of proposing or renewing your marriage vows etc, Valentines Day might be a good day to pop the question and present the ring!
These are my top five Valentines Day tips. Meanwhile try to avoid arguing, confrontation and keep the topic of love on the agenda!
