The road to the top.By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936)   Posted Saturday, February 23, 2008 View All Blog Posts submitted by Robert Melaccio, sr With the current political environment and with any number of our politicians leaving office for alleged dubious acts of character and morality, innuendo and a big majority who think them worthless and non productive and the current state of this nation and its people, the underlying tone is one of anger and outright skepticism for any of these politicans. Frankly in ,my opinion many are reaping what they have sown.
However, when we look at much of what I have been writing to and materializing right before us we would be naive not to consider what many of us believe is the issue. That is rightly or wrongly we can only decide by the nature of works and deeds. As I say, it matters not what is professed but what is actually done and what they failed to do that leaves many of us wondering.
So I ask you to take a stroll down this list of attributes which in my opinion seem to be more the norm for success today then not and lets see if you agree? I don’t agree with them and perhaps many of you do not as well? I certainly, as I say, prefer to be wrong. Lets take a real hard look to at the attributes or characteristics that we see at perhaps at play or implemented by people we find in positions of power or leadership. Yes these same ones who directly or indirectly impact many people the world over by what they have done or failed to do. It is about the road to the top. I borrowed much from another article of mine but found it interesting in light of this political season. If we listen carefully to what is in the background, like just yesterday and not the headlines, we see and hear of other political scandals and we can understand better. I am sure there are many more one could offer up as examples. Now ambition is what gets the motor started. We in the United States certainly are motivated since birth to be successful. Win, win and win. If you do not have material things you are a failure. Of course we outwardly emphasize the good aspects to attain that. The question here are the good aspects, in your opinion, being implemented and utilized or do you see something else? Why, well ambition alone cannot get you to where you want to be.
Rhetorically, is it possible you see this at play?
A] Honesty, integrity, morals, and virtue which for those seeking power and wealth are in my opinion inhibitors. Why, well they can derail, block or even kill an opportunity. So do we see persons who never admit to anything, never tell the whole story, use omission and redirect whenever possible and certainly lie if they have to? Remember, without the body it is hard to convict. "If the glove don’t fit, you can’t convict" a famous quote from Johnny Cochran. B] Certainly, you must have a desire to possess, covet as much as this world has to offer. Do you see many poor, average or middle Americans in office? So pride must be in the forefront not humbleness, although humbleness is to be projected at all times. Greed and exploitation must be at the top and it matters not if it comes at the expense of others. It does not matter how you get there only that you did. Certainly wealth increases as you achieve your goals. Remember people are assets to be utilized or discarded as required. Make the decision and don't dwell on the impact. Have you ever seen this anywhere?
C] Use religion as required for gaining credibility. Nothing sells more then when one professes to be religious. It matters not that you are or not it is what people perceive that is important. D] Allegiance to anything else but making money is a killer. However, appearance is always part of the marketing plan so wave the flag and profess God and family as often as you can. Strike hard and fast at your enemy and allow no rest until you are victorious and think not of the consequences to them but only of yourself. It is always "it works for me" and Ethical Relativity. E] You must have an aggressive marketing plan. Kiss up to those in power that provide the hook to success and achievement. Always be flexibility should you need to change direction or allegiance. Offer or do favors or enhance those people while securing something for yourself. Place your objectives in line with those in power and make sure they know you support them. Don't be afraid to use that reminder it in good taste when needed. F] Take credit for everything good or that you can associate yourself to and renounce anything bad or questionable and redirect blame ASAP. Never share success unless humbleness is appropriate. G] Now this is the most critical aspect. Remember people always judge a book by its cover and it matters not what crime or deed you do they will forgive you if their perception is favorable. Use others to enhance that image. Quote great leaders or persons that are admired or respected. Work their thoughts and concepts into your plans as presented making them somehow yours. Do just enough good works to get the information out and the perception and always keep a smile on your face and your hand outstretched. Always show at charities and special events or where favorable media can be obtained even if you had nothing to do with any of it. Yes, never address the issue or crime move along a fast as possible to another topic. Does any of this sound familiar? H] Remember, to the greedy covetousness is good because it makes you want to own as much as you can. This fuels ambition and the desire to be something. It is the reward for all your hard work. Don’t worry about sin because your way past that concept at this point and after all God forgives.
I] Like above conniving, dealing and stealth are all important to success. In fact in my opinion people expect that in leaders today especially when they get something out of it. You can certainly profess one thing up front while working hard for your own goals or those in power behind the scene. Just learn you do not have to reveal your intentions, avoid speaking about them and only to what is the perception that you will do. Always, always, always redirect and place blame in another or just plain deny. Never answer a question but change direction with another question or topic. J] Never reflect on your actions because that may lead to conversion of the heart and soul. That in of itself will be a major inhibitor and the death bell. Now certainly this walk identified the things one shouldn’t be doing. However, we all need to take a hard look at the world and ask what do we see? Do you see this is anyone you consider a leader or do you see the opposite and why? Do you see who they ally with? What are their deeds and those of that ally? What do they profess while doing the opposite? Who do you really trust and who do you not trust and why? Do you believe what they say or is it just the exterior package or no real choice? Is it that it doesn't matter that is the way it is so don't tell me about it? Now I am sure there are many good and decent people out there in this world who never use these methods as the path to power. However, we should not be naive enough to say that the halls of power are not lined by these other types. That many a decent person was crushed for the sake of position, power, wealth, greed. No my friends it is not in their profession of words but in their deeds that we all shall know them. Hey, no bible teaching necessary just a fact of life. By the fruit of their works. Now the article may be somewhat harsh but it was meant to stir a spark of thought. Are you one who judges the book by its cover or do you really look at your boss, your pastor, your mentor your political representative and actually know their deeds, or is it the Easter Bunny for you? In my opinion, as you can tell by my other works, I am of the opinion America is at a major crossroads. I find it interesting much of what I am and have been writing to popping up in the media. Why, it is fact and truth as simple as that and people are starting to open their eyes and see. Yes, this election day is a day that will impact us all forever. No, not about electing a black or a female or war hero as many like to believe. No for we will reap what we sow if we think those who remain in Congress will change. If you really think Obama, Hillary or McCain can bring change then what can one say, nothing. It speaks a lot to you and how you will vote come election day. This Blog Post has been read 172 times.
