Who were and are the real architects for change in America?By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936) ![]() ![]() Posted Sunday, February 24, 2008 View All Blog Posts submitted by Robert Melaccio, sr Lets think about the foundation of America and who brought about its birth? Yes, lets think about it hard. What made one of the greatest changes in human history was a small group of leaders who had the foresight to conceive this nations laws. These were not just any laws nor was it because we call it a Constitution, no it was about the people. They wrote it to protect the people and understood no free man would ever relinquish their freedom willingly, that it would come through deception and they warned us of that. They experienced, heard, listened and understood the signs and symbols all about them and they sensed the pulse of the people of the land and of that time for real change. They saw it in the real anarchy that led to bloodshed. Yes, a change away from the leaders who governed this land and condoned and by complacency accepted what fell upon the people. It was business as usual to them and "let them eat cake". It was the old method of Europe politics that bled the worker, the farmer, the small businessman to feed the coffers of the rich, the upper class the wealthy and the have of that day. It was like that since time began. It was and still is the way of this world and it has never changed. That is until this nation was conceived. In my opinion we are experiencing that which we were warned about. To think it no other way is to play the fool and we have allowed it and brought it upon ourselves. How does one form this opinion. Well lets think about it. Now we must remember, like now, there was a great division in the land in beliefs. Loyalists wanted to stay with England while the "revolutionists" wanted to break away. The ones who wanted to break away were the exploited and they were labeled as rebels as the British and those who had saw them and Patriots as average Americans saw them. The loyalists were the haves of that day, all to lose and nothing to gain through a split with England. They held all the power and made all the money. So this change had to be complete or it was no change at all. No not changing just the King or head, because as they knew by works that would not change the old, tired and worn ways or the status qua. That was the key to it all. They had to change it all by getting rid of all that was old and being Born Again into a new land, with new principals and concepts of government. So we must remember as well that it was trade that brought this to where it was. Oh some will say that was a good thing because without it new lands would never have been found and settled. How true, yet it was a good thing turned bad once again by mans desire for more and more and more. It led to the destruction of indigenous people, the bondage and servitude of indentured servants, the taxing and abuse of people for self gain and greed and finally to open warfare between nations coveting more and peoples suppressed. To think any differently is to not know history. So these leaders and I do mean real leaders, visionaries, met and wrote the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution which summarily gave birth to a new nation conceived in Liberty and Dedicated to the proposition that all men were created equal. They laws they wrote were written to provide the glue which bound all together for the common good. They were the ones suffering under the heavy hand of government and leaders who did not hear their cries nor see their sufferings. So they had little voice or say in the laws that governed them. You see talk is cheap, deeds are what makes for leaders. Does that sound familiar? So these leaders were intelligent to hear the cries, listen to the people and understood the injustices. They were determined that it should never happen again and they warned us how it could. Are we not awake now to our circumstances? So we come down to a few leaders who took control and shaped a new nation. However, without the people there would never have been a nation so conceived and so dedicated. It was the people who gave their allegiance, their time, their blood and their families to the cause of freedom. They were the implementers and the catalyst of real change. Now we have a similar situation with one variable. We have leaders who have not heard the cries of average and Middle income Americans. They have written the laws that help the rich and they have made treaties that favor business over the nation, a fact before their God. It is by their hand and no other that we have what we have. It is their ideology, beliefs, agenda that this has fallen upon us. To think not is to be the fool. Now, like in that day we also have the Loyalists. Those who want the status qua and who are making money and gaining wealth at the expense of others. Exploitation and corruption runs rampant. It is unfortunately evidently the road of mankind. So like your home, every so often it all must be cleaned out. The old thrown away and the new brought in. Sadly we do not have the choices to bring in a complete change. Only the have can run for high office and few to no average and middle class can afford to. We are handed the choices and we are upset that we do not see a difference, a real difference. Certainly we hear the words, the talk, but little else. The smile, the handshake, the hugging of children and eating of food, yes and the hopes they appeal to. However, is there any real difference in these candidates? Common now have you looked at their voting records, their alliances, their allegiances, who the sup with, who they share idea’s with, goals, agendas, what clubs and organizations they belong to, their economic class and what business they are involved in? Yes, have you looked and looked hard who they really serve? I venture to say if people were honest the answer would be no. In fact many vote for those who profess but go against their own morality and belief, how very sad. Yes Americans of all walks are hungry for change. We demand and want change and like those who formed our union we have a choice. We can continue to go the route we have or We the People can make change. Will it be easy, certainly not, we will have our Valley Forge in many a different way. Yet, we can change by sending that message, sounding that alarm, making known our displeasure though our vote. So the choice is this. Will you be the loyalist to this batch because those who votes in these primaries for these people are the loyalists, or will you be the rebel and send that message loud and clear? Now this is not about black, white, hero or female it is about ideology, beliefs, direction. If you like the direction this nation is going then sit home on your duff and complain when it goes bad, or get out an vote for more of the same because to change the head and not the body does little to nothing. Then again you can go out and send a message. More of the same you say. Perhaps but it does send a message to those who are anchors, glued to that seat for years, proud, arrogant and self-serving that they to can go as quick as the last batch. That my friend is the difference. That my friends will be the true change and that my friends is our only chance for any change at all. As Ralph Nader said and as the associated press reported which in my opinion is exactly fact and to paraphrase him, the only real issue is do the American people have the moral courage and fortitude to stand up to corporate powers and to get things done for the American people? Yes we have to shift the power from the few to the many. Powerful stuff for all Americans to consider and yes this election will provide the answers. Robert T.
