Why must we wait?

By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936) Robert Melaccio, sr

Yes a simple question to our leaders in Congress and running for office why must we wait for change? If they have seen the error of their ways and they truly have the interests of We the People at heart and not corporate America then let me ask you, why must we wait for change? Yes a simple question but one they will make complicated. Are not the majority of them we are upset with still in office? They all have a lower rating then this sitting President and that is low my friend. So how can anyone vote for them? Just who are these people who do? Some have to be part of that 85% who say they do not like what they do so rhetorically what does that say about them? Must I go down the list starting with our very own Presidential candidates, of both parties mind you and who these people are who have been in office for years and have been involved in all of this? I think not, they are household names. Yes, we know them by their works all too well.

So if these who have brought what we are experiencing upon us now all of a sudden see the error of their ways, or at least of everyone else’s errors that are in Congress and they are truly the leaders they profess to be, why must we wait for change? Why not change now? Could they only do this for the stimulus and for what reason? Are we naive as to who the stimulus is for? Rhetorically, do we average Americans think for one moment it is for us?

So when we ask that of these candidates and yes our representatives in my opinion they will tell you it’s the other guys that are holding everything up. Boy they are good at passing it along or redirecting are they not? Perhaps they will say, they need our help? Hey they haven’t all these years how come all of a sudden? Can they lead or can’t they and why is it they don’t understand how simple it is "for the common good"? Do I have to go on, I think not, I do believe you have the message and understand?

So why not go back to Washington and make change now? That way we can see who is in our corner and who in’t. You can start by rolling back those mortgages rates, interest only types into fixed mortgages people can afford. The Banks won’t buy it but then get out that old standby called fines and sanctions. Hey we could use the tax dollars and we are not the UN where sanctions are meaningless, that is as yet. Now when I say fines I mean meaningful fines and ramifications. The same with 31% interest and hiring illegal workers. How about rolling that back to a non usurious level and enforcing current immigration law, you do not need to waste time on any new Comprehensive reform. Yes and is morality an issue with you in any of this? After all this is "unsecured debt" meaning they took the risk. No one is saying walk away from the debt but if you really knew the system as it stands you will see the consumer is in the world of hurt and they, well you can guess.

By the way do you not think people are not walking away from their homes and how will that impact their credit. They are walking away from their cars as well? As I mentioned in my earlier articles the domino is already falling with escalating fuel prices which truckers pass to other industries who pass it to the consumer who can't afford to pay, etc, etc, etc, bingo! Has the light gone off.

This is a major problem of proportions they care not talk about. From fuel to homes to credit to jobs this nation has been sold in my opinion lock, stock and barrel and they and the world knows it but they have no answers. So as they say in Dixie, "times a wast en". Why are they not back addressing this instead of running about smiling and taking pictures? Hey the writing is on the wall my friends.

This is not brain surgery. Get this right and America will be happy and back on the road hopefully to recovery. That is after you keep and generate stay her good jobs that stay here and that do not hire Green Card recipients, offshore workers and provide them with a free ride and "that’s a fact Jack" as the movie line goes. Also, how about starting a work program to correct our infrastructure problems? Can’t do, too Comprehensive? Well frankly in my opinion that is the new buzz word for doing nothing but the entire operation is right there in the file cabinet. Get it out, dust it off and get it rolling. Hey you might just save some dollars for the economy and put people to work.

So to you who profess to be our leaders, get off the campaign trail and back to Washington because those who want you as their President have already spoken, except for a few states. The great majority of us are waiting to see if your works are where your mouth is. Yes, we are open to hearing from you via your works, not later, now.

So get back to doing what you are getting paid to do and what you promised you were going to do as a leader that can get it done. That is pass laws for "the common good" and not the good of who you deem should be rewarded or the interests of the few. Corporations are entitled to profits, that is our system, they are not entitled to no risk, that is Business 101 and it is called assigned risk and you have allowed them to pass that all to average Americans and the consumer.

Frankly we have heard all the promises we need to, it is time for deeds not more talk. So the question really is Why must we wait? If any of you agree with what I am writing then e mail these candidates campaigns as to Why must we wait? Write or call, whatever, let them know where we stand and do it now and ask them  Why must we wait?

We must wait for a simple reason:

What you are preposing leaders do is in most cases extremely complex, and in the rest of cases flatly impossible under the law.

As the saying goes, Rome was not built in a day...

Opinion accepted but I ask you this, why is it that it doesn't seem to apply to the stimulus or the billions given for bail outs. That gets put into place asap and many times bypassing Congress, how strange it takes time when it applies to average Americans. Yes, just like I wrote to. I guess that part of Rome was built first and they didn't need much talk?

Ian Trumbull from Portland Maine: (59 days 10 hours ago.)
You have a point there. In that case, I think your main complaint would be one of priorities as opposed to inaction. It's more than fair to say the government ofte prioritizes certain things either much higher or lower that they perhaps should, but even those "ASAP" push throughs take a fair amount of time.

I agree with most of your analysis of the current economic stuation, but I fear there is no easy solution. The mess we find ourselves in today is the products of decades of faulty policies and it will almost certainly take an equal (or greater) amount of time to undo the damage.

Yes, thank you for your feedback. Your analysis is correct. We have allowed the situation to fester and it has finally come home to rest. The facts are very clear that the Global agenda and big business is the main concern. If one listens to them you can hear it in the words selected and used and what is said or not. If we continue to elect these types, leaders indoctrinated the same thoughout the world, we will all reap what
we have sown. The sad fact is like it or not many in this nation still have and until they feel what the average person is experiencing there will be no real change. Best wishes.
