Done or failed to do.By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936) ![]() ![]() Posted Friday, March 21, 2008 View All Blog Posts submitted by Robert Melaccio, sr I thought I’d draft this voters check list based on these candidates records. The argument is that Washington needs change and I think that is something many of us agree with. However, we do know we do not have any choice for President, as yet. Of the three bad choices today and if they go on challenged, one will be President. However, if we do one thing and that we must do, that is to Change Congress and in doing so Change America. Certainly you may say what good is that only the rich get in, or the same types and you are a hundred percent correct in a majority of cases. However, if We the People shift this Congress, the House and Senate enough to get rid of some of these of the same ilk, we might have an outside chance. That is might, otherwise in my opinion the America we perceive and that we think of will truly be no longer. All one needs to do is look at what they have Done or Failed to do to know that truth.
If you research the length of time many of these Senators have been in office you will see it has been decades guiding us to where we are today. The list is comprised of all the well known names. They are the real power brokers. I judge them not on their looks, smile, speaking ability, family, church or exterior but on what they have done or failed to do for me and mine. They have been there so long how can any of them deny they have not had a hand in all that has befallen this nation. No not one. It has been done in what they have done or failed to do. Rhetorically, getting past their tenure, how can, yes how can anyone of moral character and decency vote for them, unless they like what they do or have gained by their hand?
Lets start with Senator Kennedy, 1962, Dodd 1972, Warner 1979, Kerry 1985. McCain 1987. Lieberman 1989, Feinstein 1992, Hillary Clinton 2001, Graham 2002, Martinez 2005 , Obama 2005 and the point being if you care to check they are all part and parcel of the Washington crowd these "presidential level" candidates say needs fixing. Yes in three years, if intelligent, if capable you should have been able to make your mark. That is if you were there all the time, fighting for us average Americans.
By their own tongue they say we can trust them, but by their works we see a different picture emerge. In what they have done or failed to do. So, why would I believe them or any of the other politicians for that matter? That is in my opinion unless your incapable of comprehending, happy or just do not care? I did not bother to list the House but you would find more of the same tenure in the key professed leaders like Reid and Pelosi. Yes the same group year after year after year and they are shocked at what is happening and it is always someone else who did the deed. Yet they are working hard to change all that, aren't they?
So lets go down the list of done or failed to do and you decide. These are on going, current, smack you in the face unresolved issues. They are in my opinion all the "good job Brownie" no solution gang, no response, inept, inaction, blame someone else, take no responsibility, uninformed or misguided, incapable, Comprehensive bunch, always studying never an answer from our "leaders" and this 85% of us know. The other 15% of Americans have it all so why would they be upset with them? So, the real question is why do we allow the minority to continually elect them? Better yet, outside of that 15% how can that minority elect them? Well the fact is that 15% is really average Americans and all the rest of those complaining, crying and moaning really have. Just look and you shall see.
Don’t think what I am saying is right, then check them out. Think about each item and ask yourself what they have done or failed to do? Have these been resolved and for the good? 1 Katrina. 2 War’s- Afghanistan / Iraq. 3 Beneficial trade agreements that are good for America? Fair Trade verses Free Trade. 4 Outsourcing of American Industry. 5 Instituted At Will employment. 6- Replaced good jobs, stay here jobs with low pay no benefit, less then 40 hours type jobs. 7 Allowed the Foreclosure problem to materialize. 8 Strengthen Credit Card bankruptcy laws favoring the corporations. 9 31% interest or higher on Credit Card Debt. 10 Debt collection harassment to flourish. 11 Millions of illegal workers to and continue to stream across our borders. 12 ID theft flourishes. 13 Comprehensive Immigration when it is not an immigration problem. 14 Allowed our military to fall into disarray in many aspects. 15 Allowed the economic crisis to materialize. 16 Created an environment of the haves and have not’s. 17 Allowed our infrastructure to fall into disarray. 18 Have allowed fuel prices to come to an all time high and going higher. 19 35 million in the supposed richest nation in the world go to bed hungry each night. 20 40 million without health care. 21 50 million falling fast on the economic ladder. 22 Brought our nation to where we are today. One could add a host of other day to day situations from education, to social services, to rising food costs, to Home Owners Insurance, the elimination of Assigned Risk, broken homes and families, etc, etc, etc, etc and YOU still want to elect this bunch? Yes, YOU who vote for them. Your waiting for them to make the change. Well "Golly Gee", Gomer Pile, just what does it take to sound the alarm? Oh, they look good, speak well, have a nice family ok, but just what have they done for you average Americans? Yes, you and yours? Are you better now then your were even two years ago? How about five years ago? How good will you be in ten years from now, your kids, your family, your loved ones? Do you still have that equity in your home that you had two years ago, or are you using your savings to survive? If you are one of the haves, sitting on your dividends and making enough to afford that new 50k car I am not talking to you. No, I’m talking to those who consider themselves just an average Americans. No, a 70k a year salary is not average. No not those with your multiple pensions working because your bored and taking a job from someone who really needs it and keeping wages artificially low. No, sorry, not you with your golf cart living in a secluded, gated community, certainly not you. No, not you with your stock options, health care, retirement fund, multiple cars. Why would I ever address you who have? Nothing wrong in your having but hone up to the fact you’re happy, content, what I like to call the HAVE. You love these politicians and yearn to touch hands, take pictures, be seen with them. Wave a flag, praise God and they have your vote. No, not even those earning 50k a year, which is at the high end of average Americans earnings. No I'm talking about that 15% of America who can’t pay the phone bill, the utility bill, your taxes, your car insurance, your home owners insurance, for your kids lunch or uniforms, or class trip, a new pair of sneakers, fix the car, cable TV, go to the movies, get a full tank of gas instead of just a few dollars at each fill up, eat out, etc, etc, etc, yes you. You make too much for help and not enough to survive. So my friends when you go to vote this November, take this list with you. Will the surplus help, will gas prices go down, will the Roses bloom right before the election, you can bet your last dollar they will right around September, October. Will they say I told you so, yes. But just how short is your memory? Do you not remember gas prices before the last election? Yes, that’s right they were up and rising, remember that $1.25 a gallon? Check it out and then because of the hard work of these leaders, yea right, they came down and right before election. Do you not remember or just don’t care to? So my friends cast your ballot for those who have done or failed to do. Those of the same ilk will be happy. Those who do not vote will gripe and we all will go for the same ride. Yes, you have and are killing the American Dream for millions, you have and it is as plain as day for those millions of Americans. Does it really matter, really matter where it really counts, with ones character. Frankly, like I stated, I really don’t give a damn how well someone looks, talks, gender, if you are, a war hero or not. I do care about what you have done or failed to do and how it impacts me and mine and this nation. I just want someone who includes average Americans. No please do not get me wrong. There are some good peole in Congress. Who, well we never hear about them. So we need to check their records. The press only gives you the names I have and we already know their positions and what they have done for America. These are the ones we must change. So what is the only choice we have, take it or leave it, Change Congress Change America. It is up to each state and their average Americans to do that.
