What will giving it all back, part 2.By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936) ![]() ![]() Posted Monday, March 24, 2008 View All Blog Posts submitted by Robert Melaccio, sr Another aspect of the use of Credit Cards which could negatively impact an individual or family is something called Debt to Income Ratio. That is where your "listed" debt exceeds your income to the point that it places you in a questionable position to secure additional finding of any kind. Now we have to agree that it is not unfair to say that much of this is brought upon ourselves through spending gone wild, called covetousness. However, there are many other circumstances that can place one in this position that are not of their doing. Once thrown into a cycle of debt there is little escape. The only direction financially for most is down. True there are always the exceptions but they are just that, the few. In my opinion our great legislators, politicians, leaders, have allowed Credit Card and Banks and other lenders play a little game with reporting this debt to agencies which literally work hand in hand with them for their benefit. Here is a factual example. Lets say you take care of business for someone who is incapacitated, a shut in. They have a credit card and you are designated as " an authorized user", so that you can make purchased on their behalf. You do not own the debt, it is theirs, yet their debt, once you are registered as a user, goes onto your Credit report. So if you had $5000,00 of your own debt and were in good financial shape, Beacon Score Wise and they have $15,000 worth of debt you now have $20,000 worth of debt on your Credit report, WHY? Now the wonderful credit reporting agency says talk to the lender they only report what they give them. The lender says you are not liable for the debt and you are only listed as an authorized user. So why show the debt?
Ok, lets review this again because I know many of you who do not have this situation, but may up the road with a loved one or spouse. You do not own the debt and are not responsible but it goes onto your credit report. Once again, why would this be done? Well think about it? In my opinion and by experience this lowers your credit score [Beacon] and places you into the category of a higher risk. Why is that good for companies one would think the opposite. Yet, like a magical trick, do not look for the obvious. That simple notation on your credit equates to higher rates in all you do for what ever loan, purchase or finance you may need to secure if you can even secure it at all. Do I have to spell it out? This reverberates into everything one does from car insurance, to credit cards, to home mortgages, etc, etc, etc. These are shrewd operators and know all the angles too increase profit potential. You see many of the products and services that the parent company will no longer provide for you is farmed out to their own subsidiary but at a much higher rate or fee. What is even sadder is that our politicians let them do this. What they have done and failed to do once again. Is that morality? Well, as they say "it is all perfectly legal" and that says it all. So if you read my prior article on Credit cards one can tell this is just another aspect of an industry, with untold power to destroy lives. Yes destroy and get this for lending "unsecured debt". Yes, there are few politicians, including Obama, Hillary or McCain with enough courage to address this issue and quite frankly there is no one in the media who will ask the question. Why is this allowed? Once again we get down to the root cause, the nuts and bolts of who people profess they are verses who and what they really are. Yes, don’t like it, well what you profess is not who you are, what you do, your works is who and what you are. You say you are a good decent person and by all outward appearances you are. However, if you steal you are a thief, be it a physical thing or an accounting entry. If you break the law, you are what you are by nature of that crime, a felon or committed a misdemeanor or whatever, some worse then others? You can look good, speak well, and be all the rave externally but inside where the tire meets the road you are what you are. The face in the mirror may lie but the soul does not’t. So just one more issue on the road of many issues. So as one looks at these people streaming out to support their candidate one has to ask just how do they come to reconcile the many things these people have done or failed to do that impacts them, their families and loved ones and our nation that they are willing to overlook? Just what do these candidates do that makes voters so trusting that change will come? If they profess, just what does that profession mean, hope, just what, believe what? We shall know them by their works, what they have done, but more significantly what they have failed to do, ignore, approve of, condone. So their record, which many choose to ignore is the answer. Do they represent you? Do they do the things that are good for you? How, where, when and do you even know or care? In fact many think of it as business as usual and do not see anything wrong in it. They expect it and accept it. Yes where your heart is so is your God. In my opinion who they are is written across the face of this nation in many a household and in many varied ways. Yes, in what they have done and what they have failed to do.
No America, change will only come when decent and good people make it happen. When we do not allow the systems that these people have allowed to prosper and grow to continue as is. Rhetorically one leaves with this question, if 85% of you don't like them, don't like Comprehensive Immigration, don't like how the war is being handled, then just who the heck is out there cheering for them?
The only real weapons we have are our dollars and our vote. We no longer have the dollars but we still can vote. Change Congress, Change America and We the People will make real change.
