Fair Trade not Free Trade

By Robert Melaccio, sr(25,470) Robert Melaccio, sr

We seem to have forgotten the word Fair when we speak about trade. In the dictionary the word FAIR when used in that context of interactions between people or nations or organizations is defined as that which is marked by impartial, honest and has no attachment to self interest, prejudice or favoritism. In other words all share equally in the benefits.

If we look at our current plight can we honestly say that these trade agreements which we all know have impacted our nation uphold that definition or values? Certainly we have been abused by the NAFTA treaty and admittedly by those who endorsed and implemented it. Can we see any real trade treaties with China or other nations to our good? We can go on but for the sake of space one thinks not.

So here is the real issue my fellow Americans. Who negotiated these treaties, approved them and signed off on them and then the next question, if they are elected representatives of our government, why? The solution can only be when this government restores jobs, good stay here at home, good paying jobs back to Americans. Since we are the largest importer of goods and services in the world how do they sustain that when people are hurting? The only way my friends is JOBS. No, not protectionism, reality.

We are, like it or not at a historical crossroads. The outcry from not only the experts here but world wide is alarming. So what we average Americans have left is hope. You can’t buy on hope. You can’t pay the bills on hope, no hope provides nothing material to be happy about just a promise.

So, the real question is why should we or anyone believe what these politicians have done by their deeds. No words are hollow if not followed by deeds. So why, just why do you expect anything more then hope?

No the answer is in good, stay here, long term American employment, period. It is not in protectionism but in FAIR TRADE not giveaway trade which they call Free Trade. Free for who?

In my opinion that is the real choice of this election AND WHO CAN DELIVER IT NOW.
