The society of now, get, and more.By Robert Melaccio, sr(26,175) ![]() ![]() Posted Tuesday, April 01, 2008 View All Blog Posts submitted by Robert Melaccio, sr Yes, many an American household and for that matter all over this world are hoping America will rebound economically. If we place the fact that good paying stay here jobs are hard to find and won't be so easy to bring back we can go onto some other factors. Yes, these issues are not just American. They can be found in other societies which mimic the current American business model. Notice I said business model. In my opinion the problems go much deeper then the surface issues which are in of themselves devastating. Why, because in my opinion we are and the world is fast becoming the society of now, get, and more. In my prior article I asked the question of sin. Why so harsh a word? Well as that article visited, can we continue to bail out the wealthy and greedy while considering cutting Hospice or children’s care and care for the elderly and not call that sin? Can we continue to allow usury and all kinds of credit abuse and not call that sin? Can we continue to ignore the law and is that not sin? The list goes on and on and on and this writer has listed them all for years now. Rhetorically just who one might ask are the real fools? Hope you say, hope in what? What do I mean by that? Well here are a few examples. Just today I was at a local hospital. What can one say about the quality of heath care delivered and experienced? In my opinion and based on the experience and observation of the signs and symbols all about me much of what went on left a lot of concern. It seemed as if one hand did not know what the other was doing, or in my opinion cared to know. You see they work by government guidelines. These guidelines are not based on individuals needs but statistics, charts, graphs, a bean counters opinion. That is not the real world. In the case of this hospital, thank God that was not everyone.
Yes, there are many good people who carry the ball which evidently keeps the entire situation going. However, in my opinion and for the most part many of the staff are there for only one thing, one of the few jobs left in America that pays well. They came believing and were as I have said indoctrinated by the system. Care, just a word that is mentioned in the industry description but in my opinion it has lost its true meaning. Yes, from the beginning and as it unfolded and sadly as it continues to unfold in many aspects all was found wanting. No not just picky, being nuisance or a complainer but in the basics expected and even by law which were not adhered to. To receive the glares of being a complainer was enough to tell me of the quality of many of the staff and of the organization. If they did not have the professionalism to see it blatantly before them then no wonder they did not like the truth.
One must wonder if a person has no one to look after them, or strong enough to speak up for them, just what would happen? I for one can say you are damn lucky if you get in and out without a major problem. How many, yes how many enter and pass through this environment day in and day out without an advocate in their corner? Do you think this system truly cares? Do you really? Now I said system. An intravenous inserted wrong that no one saw for a day. The same container of fruit for two days on a counter, empty water containers, the bedding not changed, misinformation and certainly attitude all contributed to the impression of the care delivered, care, what care? You can bet your bottom dollar and just know that the bills and the collection notices come right on time and "that's a fact Jack" as the movie line goes. They got that right down to a science. So what I am talking to is work ethic, responsibility, pride, motivation which in my opinion have all long gone in a system that does not promote loyalty but actually rewards people for being mediocre and who move along from job to job. Yes and degree’s all over the place, but try and find simple logic, common sense, a caring attitude? It is Customer Service with no Service. In my opinion it is health care by mechanics, motion, ritual. Sad but true as demonstrated by the application of that care or lack thereof. Good people stuck in a system that is in my opinion more like a crunching machine then people oriented.
We have in my opinion indoctrinated them into the society of now, get, and more. In my opinion we have stated very clearly more is good and it does not matter how you get it. Morality a thing of the past or to be manipulated. Loyalty for fools and there is always time to do it over, or let the next person do it. Yes, it shows in the signs and symbols of America today. Oh, will most not agree, of course. Why, once again in my opinion, they are after all the greater part of what I am talking about. Not all but many. So to prove it just go about and observe. Be open to the signs and symbols all about you. Make mental notes, see, listen observe. Observe your treatment at the hands of the customer service person, the nurse, the doctor, the technician, the politician, your boss, etc, etc, etc. Yes, see and observe what happens. Look for the cheap labor alternative at your door.
No it is written on the Golden parachutes of the elite, the billions in profits and billions in bailouts that come as required in no time at all. Yet they talk of "comprehensive" and taking time when it comes to issues that impact average Americans. Yes in the At Will employment, low wage no benefit jobs, no manufacturing, outsourcing and excessive prices and on and on and on. Yes, like I stated, they can pass what they want when needed for big business but us, average America, well we can all wait until after the election and in my opinion keep on waiting. So go ahead and continue to place your hope in those who you see as bringing this change, real change about. As in the example noted above, do you really think their loved ones get the same level of care? Yes, trust in what they profess or say but not in what they do, then in my opinion how foolish you are. People have become immune to it and yes, indoctrinated into mediocrity.
Yes, look well past the outward signs my friends. At the gas pump, at the grocery counter, at the hospital, etc, because the decay is not on the outside. The cancer is on the inside and it has struck the vital organs and what is needed is radical surgery. Hope, yes hope, but I’ll add my own ending PRAY!
Oh and yes, Change Congress Change America it is the only real hope we have left.
