Reports for over seas.

By Robert Melaccio, sr(28,936) Robert Melaccio, sr

The following was gleaned from a couple of newspapers sent to me by a close friend working in Qater. I though it might be interesting for some of my readers who may not read foreign press to hear what another part of the world has to report.

These excerpts all come from one or more additions of their Penninsula Newspaper. The first article concerns fruits and vegetables prices in Qater as still high but the good news for them is they don’t have a gas problem. However, that doesn’t stop creative people anywhere from making money on something else. It seems that while there is no shortage of fruit and vegetable supplies the prices still keep going up. We better start all over with economics 101 Supply and Demand, that hasn’t worked in decades.

Why is that? Well as reported by the paper it seems they also have their unscrupulous business people as well. What a shocker. Rhetorically one might have thought it was only Born Again professed Christians or Capitalists and not another religion or economic system. Anyway, it is alleged in the paper that several leading wholesalers have been cashing in by fixing prices.

Talking about the Free Market, yes meaning in my opinion to take as much as you can get while you can and at someone else’s expense, it seems they reported a deepening economic crisis in the USA has required and to use their terms and as expressed to them unprecedented [meaning brand new and having nothing like it before it] actions by US policy makers not heard of since the Great depression. The concern, as reported, is that it seems when the Fed starts handing out the billions regulation isn’t far behind. Now get this, they quote one Allan Meltzer, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University as saying "the fed agreement to guarantee 29 billion dollars in troubled Bear Sterns assets was a mistake". This action, and here it comes "transferred potential losses from the market to the taxpayers". Golly gee as Gomer Pile would say, isn’t that strange? It sounds like good business practice to me? Yes first they got rid of the risk and then the taxpayer gets to pay for their failure. Yes, leadership at its very best.

Now here is another really important comment out of this paper and as it reported "I do not believe the present system can remain". Just how significant is that comment? Think about it my friends. Perhaps, you have to go back and read some of my earlier works. Is that a sign and symbol to follow?

The paper further reported that one Ed Yardeni at Yardeni Research said the "the Fed made monetary history". Basically crossing over to the dark side of financial socialism. Wow. He further went on to say, as reported in the article "Comrade Ben is determined that there will be no financial meltdown and no depression while he is in command". Hey, do you read this stuff here? Keep in mind opinion only but by leading economic individuals respected throughout the world.

They went on in another article to talk of the ties between Europe and Qater growing. and American competition from our allies, you remember them in the European Union, our allies. Yes they saw an opportunity and struck. Their influence is growing fast in this part of the world due to the collapsing dollar. Always a good allies to step in when needed. Yes, we we tarde with them on our security interests. Do you feel any safer? Oh, I know be oppotomistic, right? I offer "Peace in our time".

Moving on to terror and other Mid East issues, 1/3 of Arabs believe Saudi Arabia is at greater risk from religious extremism then any other nation. Omar Gaddafi stated and as reported in the peninsula the arab summit was fruitless. "There is nothing new to mention in this summit, it is like previous Arab summits". Syria it was reported in this paper is ready for anything in case of US action. As for Pakistan the US is jittery. They had a good friend in Musharraf, one could guess as good as one could get in this part of the world, and he is going fast. He’ll probably come her and get a good University job? Our government envoy Gilani stated of the new leader he felt we would have support but then qualified it with, "of course words will have to be matched with action". What a novel idea for anyone in our government.

The paper also reported on Islamophobia which they depict as being on the rise around the world because of terrorism? Hey do you know any reason why that should be? They also stated a story reported here in the US a few weeks ago. Al Qaeda is now training fighters to enter the USA through our porous borders. They should have a "Western Appearance"so as to move about unnoticed. So I ask you this, how many from that part of the world are walking around our streets evena s you read this, freely and openly and for that fact many nations like Canada all day long. Don’t they know that doesn’t matter? .

Anyway, don’t worry Mr. McCain said "he got it now, build the fence". Sometimes it just takes tough thinking, right? I’m glad he woke up. Some other miscellaneous questions as one reads through the paper, it seems a top Egyptian was part of NASA for sometime. Yes a foreigner right in the middle of it all. How many from other nations are involved? Then they mentioned the need for more technical visa’s because Americans can’t do the job. 65000 expected for those new jobs. That is being pushed hard by US business and our government leaders. Yes more good jobs but for who? Yes and your not worried at all about security and hey more good jobs are on the way. Yes, for who, and you got your hope. Try spending that hope on your utility bill.

Yes and they didn't forget TATA, a big bold Indian Giant corporation just purchased Jaguar and Land Rover from a big or I should say once Big American or I should say Global giant. They are also tied into Fiat of Italy. Have you been to italy lately. If so, please tell me where many of the Italians went. Now the point behind this all. Who’s money is behind it all? You got it, oh, I’m sorry we are the stupid Americans. Yes Free Trade is a wonderful thing, evidently only not for America.

So lets thank the Peninsula newspaper where this information was gleaned from. Actually one might think by reading it that it was an American written paper. It also goes to show they are in the same mess there or worse. Rhetorically, maybe we can send them our candidates so they too can have hope?
