Does anything really change?

By Robert Melaccio, sr(26,227) Robert Melaccio, sr

Well I’m supposed to be writing about economics, what’s that? We already know the principals that have served this world for so long no matter work. Yes just like the principals we all say we find important, like morality, ethics, integrity, truth no longer viable in this day and age.

A man recently released from prison after 27 long years and all the while professing his innocence had been turned down by the parole board multiple times because he was incorrigible. He just would not admit to the crime. Well the reporter asked him why wouldn’t he just admit and he would be set free. He said, "it wasn’t the truth and a man has to stand for something". I do believe that last statement sums up the condition of the economy and really the world. There are few who stand up for something and hold to their convictions.

So when we hear about what these persons of power are doing, what they say they will do and what they intend or plan to do we do not know which is truth. In fact the majority of us just do not trust them. Yet we continue to elect them. We continue to support their works and deeds and what they bring upon people.

Now I have been writing these last few years about the plight of the common man. No certainly not those making a very good income at $60,000, $70,000 and up. No they are being impacted but they are not hurt. They have pretty good jobs for now or are retired and living LaDolce Vita in the way they choose to live it. No I was and am always talking to those working poor. Those I call average Americans.

Now I have said many a time it matters not what I write because those who read are for the most part NOT the working poor. The working poor rarely read these types of articles on the internet. No those are who I call the haves. Inmy opinion they do little to nothing but complain and who really, even while professing not true, do not care what befalls their fellow man. Sure, they read, discuss, agree or disagree but it means nada, nothing, zilch, nothing in their ritual of life. For them does anything really change? The same routine day in day out with an occassional variation.

So I woke today saying to myself I have been meeting more and more of the "working poor" with the same attitude as I have recently written to. Defeated souls, resigned to the fact that there is nothing they can do. They expect nothing from the people in power. They do not vote. They care little to nothing about what is going on, they basically are resigned to their lot and as they say "just try to get by".

So that in my opinion says that the haves, yes you who never are excited, even in disagreement, or approval who sit there reading my writings and others but doing nothing are really content. Not happy but content.

Yes content. I used to agree with that man I spoke about earlier "it wasn’t the truth and a man has to stand for something". That my friends in an antiquated concept long lost on this new world of "me" and "now". It is so blatantly clear that it just cannot be disputed. Somewhere along the line we have forsaken those values for the things of this world. It matter not how they are obtained, what system or economic rules. No just take what you can, use what you can, obtain what you can and be happy you are not one of the others.

So with all due respect to you who take time to read my writing, you are the very proof that what I speak to is truth. You see of all the readers there is not enough interest in what is happening to even respond to a simple question. No not one. Yes and even if you do agree. Perhaps you are afraid to stand for what you believe in? Who knows? I tend to think you are like the others I spoke to. Have given up, or content.  So for today I will take a break from the misinformation, the distortions, the misdirections, the omissions and the half truths of life because speaking to it matters not. It has finally sunk in that evidently we truly are the bovine they speak to and that’s a fact jack, as the line in the movie goes.

Yes and it is the truth when one asks Does anything really change?
