Film SchoolBy buckeye(148) I guess I should have posted this as one of my first blogs considering most people need to get a degree to start doing anything in the film industry. Film school has always been an interest of mine since high school, but I knew that it would be too expensive to go to a top notch school. Now I decided to do some price checking on what some of these film schools have for tuition rates. First I found The Los Angeles Film School, conviently located in Hollywood. Their one year immersion filmaking program was a mere $36,740. Let me just check my piggy bank. I then found the Full-Sail School of Film which supposedly shows a student in 2 years how to effectively be a director, cinematographer, producer, etc. You would even learn how to be a set-designer. Wow. I couldn't seem to find if they were accredited though. Huh? Also, this school wouldn't even display their tuition rates on their site. You would need to send for their brochure. Ouch, I can't even imagine what that could be. I found one of the more prestigious film schools, The New York Film Academy. Yes, they have Bachelor's and Master's degrees. To get a bachelor's in filmaking one would need to fork out $15,000 a semester. It's a little slimmer if you wanted to be an actor ($9,500). So I guess if you know film is something that you want to absolutely get into then shoot for the stars. Just make sure you'll have a hefty paying job when you graduate; otherwise, you may be in for a bad ending. This Blog Post has been read 1 times.
