The Good Word

There was a word that once was spoke,
It took away pain, and filled with hope.
It freed men from their mental cages,
Only spoke by proph’ts and sages.
This word would open up their eyes,
It cleared the rain clouds from the skies.
Had all the warmth of a mother’s kiss,
Made dark to light, and filled with bliss.
And so this word was kept a secret,
And given, to a man to keep it .
And from his lips the word had fled,
He kept it safely in his head.
Until the time he felt so low,
He knew the word would save his soul.
He moved his lips to begin talking,
But couldn’t say the word, it was forgotten...
