Are Big Screen TV's affecting Box office sales?By buckeye(148) To continue the theme on the failure of blockbusters I'm going to reach out on this blog. However, I do think there is a correlation between these two subjects: Big Screen TV's profits vs. blockbuster profit drops. I found an article with Star Tribune that reported sales are up 22% for the second quarter for Best Buy Inc. According to the article, it has a lot to do with the sale of flat-panel TV's. And why not more and more people are spurging for the big screen TV with the HD tuner to accomodate their HD channels. I have HD channels and frankly once you've gone HD you won't ever want to go back to analog. But I digress.. The big screen TV almost recreates the theatre experience. Now you can watch a movie in your living room in digital quality and if you have 5.1 or even 7.1 sorround sound even better. It's like your at the movies. Now you can sit on your couch, relax make your own popcorn and enjoy. Instead you could have drove to the theatre, paid $8 for a ticket and a another $7-$10 on popcorn, snacks and a drink. (Not to mention the amount of gas you used to get to the theatre). This Blog Post has been read 5 times.
