The Great Kibble Caper - SOLVED!

By BJChips(5,633) BJChips

Dear Diary,
Alas, the investigation into the theft of my kibble has come to an end!

After days of following that darn cat all over the house my surveillance had netted me two jingle balls, one old half torn up catnip mouse, several hairballs and two old, disgusting cat treats which the scoundrel hid behind the dining room hutch.

I have lost countless hours of relaxation and sleep during my surveillance of this nocturnal creature watching from under the sofa or table while he prowls the house at three in the morning!

The conclusion of this investigation occurred under quite common circumstance. It happened at the breakfast table yesterday morning. I was at my usual station, underneath the table by the foot of my male human when I overheard the following conversation

“ You need to stop by the store and pick up another bag of kibble for BJ. I put the last in his bowl this morning.” said the female human to the male.

“He wastes more then he eats,” said the male over a bite of cereal.

“I don’t think so, his bowl has been empty nearly every day for the past week or so.” said the female. Note: I have been stuffing myself every morning since the theft took place. Empting my bowl before the cat could steal more.

“Yeah, I noticed that. You know I dumped out his bowl the other day at lunchtime because he didn’t finish it.” the male said while finishing the bowl.

“You did that?” the female asked. “I thought he ate it.”

My ears were so focused on the conversation that I nearly missed the piece of toast that had fallen within easy reach.  GULP! UMMmmm Good toast.

So, alas dear diary, the criminal amongst us is my male human! He dumped out my food leaving me with an empty bowl and the belief I had been robbed.

The cat has given me a self-serving look as if he expects an apology. Nay, dear kitty cat I will not apologize because even if you are innocent of this crime you are guilty of something….. I just don’t know what……  yet!
