And now for something completely different...

By TheOptimist(4,576)

Hello readers,

If you read my blog at TheOptimist.com before I moved to ProBlogs.com (which is a much better site), you may know that I would write more content personally and every once in a while I would post an interesting link or video. Since I moved my blog I have been busy and I have only posted clips and articles from elsewhere. So, I figured it was time to get back to my roots, so to speak, and to write something myself...After all, it is my blog!

I started The Optimist blog not necessarily to help others to stay motivated and optimistic, (although I do hope that happens too). The truth is I started The Optimist blog as a way for me to stay positive, motivated, and optimistic.

When I first had the idea I was actually pretty down and negative. I suffered the loss of a family member, and I was just not happy were I was in life. I had a lot of dreams and aspirations when I was younger, however I hadn't reached them and became discouraged. I was basically resigned to give in and to live a mundane life.

It was in this place that I came across a book called The Laws of Success by Napoleon Hill. It was a great book that helped motivate me and gave me inspiration. I finished the book, put it down and nearly forgot about...however, upon realizing that my motivation level was dropping daily I decided to read it again.

I realized at that time that I needed to constantly strive to stay motivated and positive. And it wasn't just that one book, although this is what sparked it for me. It could have been any number of books, tapes, websites, or activities that motivated me.

I decided at that time to always work on motivation and to take action each day towards achieving my goals. I have since come a long way and I do consider myself The Optimist at this point.

There are so many negative influences in this world. Many people have a fear of reaching for their goals and failing. Well, the fact is that if you are working towards your goals you are almost sure to fail at something, sometime! This isn't a bad thing, it is just a part of trying and you will be stronger and more experienced upon your next try. No one ever accomplished great things without taking a chance. If you live your life in fear of failing you may never try.

Even people you know will tell you that you cant accomplish your goals or tell you that you can't do things. Be sure not to listen to these things, most of the time the person saying them is just scared to try for their own dreams.

This is why I started TheO ptimist blog. I want to constantly find ways to motivate myself and others to stay positive, reach for goals, and be optimistic.

I am always happy to meet like-minded individuals. Please feel free to comment on my posts or contact me.

Thanks for reading. Stay tuned and stay optimistic!
