Add a video to your blog using the new YouTube feature!

By blog(83)

now on ProBlogs.com!

As you probably know, YouTube was recently bought by Google and is now one of the most popular websites on the Internet today. YouTube allows members to upload videos and share them with others.

We have had many people ask us about adding videos to their blog here at ProBlogs.com, and we are pleased to offer a new feature that will let you do just that.

You can now insert favorite YouTube videos directly into your blog, creating a video blog or a "vlog"!

We've made it easy. Heres how to do it:

Go to add a post as usual by logging into your ProBlogs.com account, then clicking on Notes -> Add. To add the video you click on the YouTube button, which now appears in the blog editor's toolbar. It looks like this:

A box will then pop up. You will want to copy and paste the YouTube video ID of the video you would like, then specify the video's size. We recommend using the standard size, 425 x 350.

To find the YouTube Video ID you just locate the video that you want on the YouTube web site, and the address of the video will look like this:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=2GWPOPSXGYI <- The part in BLUE is the video ID

Once added the video will show as an object in the editor. You can move it around to where you would like. Finish your post, click Add, and your done. The YouTube video will be in your post!

Here is what it will look like:

Give it a try, it's fun!

Please note that this feature is still in Beta mode, and it may be a little hit and miss over the first couple of days. If you use FireFox you may have trouble using it. Try typing something before adding a YouTube video. This is an issue that we are aware of and are still working on. If you have any other problems or if you have additional questions please contact me at parker@problogs.com.

We have had a little trouble with this feature over the last 24 hours or so, however it appears to be resolved at this time. I am glad to see a few people trying out this new feature, and I am sure that it will be a valuable tool for our bloggers to use going forward.
