Elections 2006

By DrAbuelo(2,706)

Now that the eleventh hour is right around the corner, most races around America are starting to take shape and as predicted, most campaigns show signs of American's discontent with the Republican party. On the surface of things, most Democratic voters should be dancing in the streets and burning effigies of George W. Bush on their front lawns but, underneath the good news are specters of the last three elections. As I mentioned in my last piece, we are bracing ourselves to see how the electronic voting machines are going to act up this year and, the ghosts of Florida and Choice Point are still haunting Black and Hispanic voters. Jim Crow is alive and well but, for how long? There is some good news that might dislodge those laws created during the reconstructionist movement, along with those that date back to the time of slavery which happen to still be on the books.

The woman who injected George W. Bush into the Arm of America is losing her race and not by a small margin. Bill Nelson is holding a commanding lead over her that not even the corrupted voting machines can change. He is currently stomping her 59% to 33%. This was reflected in a poll conducted by WFLA/NBC Florida conducted a poll last night in an attempt to find out who Floridians thought won the debate. The result was 49% Nelson to Harris's 30%. This will be a bigger loss than many are expecting. She's chum in shark infested waters. And not a moment too soon I might add. Don't forget Katharine Harris Over saw the recount in Florida before she stopped it dead in its tracks. She fought against the recount while holding a position in the courts that had its finger on the pulse of the election and, at the same time, headed the Bush campaign. She also teamed up with Jeb Bush in their plan to create the scrub lists used to target Black and hispanic voters, and a few white Democrats, over 60,000 in Palm Beach alone. Does it sound like I'm being partisan? Well, maybe so but no more than those hate mongers who disguise themselves as journalists at Fox news. For those few Democrats still left in Florida, after Tuesday you will be free to dance on her political grave.

The Governor's race is much more murky. Republican Charlie Crist is leading Democrat Jim Davis by seven electoral points, 50% to 43%. But Davis has been making up allot of ground lately and has the momentum to pull this out in the end but, I wouldn't put my money on it. Too much is working against Davis, not the least of which is the fact that Crist is riding on the coat tails of Jeb Bush. And don't forget about those damn machines.

In the end it has to wait to be seen if any changes really occur if the Democrats retake congress and or the Senate. The issues that their left base is begging to be put on the table are no where in sight. The war in Iraq is spiraling into chaos and George W. Bush is ripe to be impeached. But, we''ll see. Until next time.
