Just what is it you who have can’t seem to grasp or don’t want to?

Posted Saturday, May 31, 2008 (1 day 14 hours ago.)

Just what is it you who have can’t seem to grasp or don’t want to? Look this is not rocket science. This economy is close if not already destroyed for average Americans. Now that may not interest you who have yours and are smug about it but like it or not their problems have a way of reaching out and becoming your problems, a simple fact.

Now since many who have do not have credit issues they really blame these people for their own circumstances. "They made their bed let them lay in it." Well that’s another article and another issue that I feel speaks volumes to those types who think this way.

So here is a real life story from the files of one average American. The friendly credit card company, the one charging 31.9% called and said you’re late with your payment and you owe $485.00 and how much do you care to pay today? The person said nothing since he has nothing. You have been an outstanding customer up until these past few months can you tell us why you have not been paying on time?

So here it goes. Number one I was paying you approximately $75.00 a month with a rate of 14.9%. I am now paying over $250.00 a month, with fines, penalties, fees and over the limit charges at 31.9%. Number two, the person explained they are unemployed and have medical and family problems that just came up. "We are so sorry, how much can you pay"? Well one might say his fault for ever having cards and you are probably right. However, not many are without one and when times are rough one might consider this as an only option for the short haul? You know always hoping, just like in these candidates and yes even this bill collector?

So he replied "I guess you didn’t hear me, nothing. I have nothing", I’ll use my words, zero, nada, zilch. "He reiterated, "I own nothing, have nothing and have little to no income". To which the person replied to him and as he reiterated it to me, "you know we have a hardship program and if you could pay only $60.00 a month we will not charge fees, or charges and at 14.9% and for 4 months. That is until you can get back to work." [there is that hope again]. "He replied it seems you have a comprehension problem?" Number one if I could pay the $60.00 a month I could most likely have continued paying the $75.00 a month. Yet you and my other two card holders have done exactly the same so I can’t even pay that money and guarantee I could.

To that the person said " well you know we will have to send your account to collections and that will ruin your credit". To which he replied, "ruin my credit"? Just what have you done already? Do you really think sending me to who in my opinion is a meat eater will change my circumstances?

To that person said and get this "have you tried debt consolidation"? To which he said ok, how about you consolidating all my cards into one fixed rate payback. "Oh we can’t do that". She then asked "why haven’t you gone to your bank for help", a fishing expedition, to which he said "my bank", just what are you drinking? My friendly banker is one of them that got me into this and I’m not so wanted by them. Only those who have. You know ‘the credit worthy" ones. "he then added, "you may be able to survive on what you are making on that job some American used to have but over here $8.00 an hour just doesn't cut it."

He then said why don’t you work with people? "Silence" he then said "the answer is because you don’t have to". You sell of the debt to a meat eater for pennies on the dollar and then write it off for that tax break as a loss. That meat eater tries to collect as much as he can and all on unsecured debt over what he paid. Our government, oh I’m sorry your allies in our government and in my opinion support you and then people like me get the bad name. To that the collector said. "Call us if you are interested before your 60 days are up and hung up".

So you see my friends when I sit down and here this from good people. People that you could drive by their home and never know it. Who were the haves just a year ago and due to circumstances not of their making this is what they now have. Yes, think hard my friends because "there but for the grace of God go I".
The real question is this is. This is only one example times thousands each day. What does this mean up the road?  What does it mean to your customers who are no more and just like him? What does it mean when you can't close that sale? What does it mean when layoffs suddenly stop at your door? Get the point or Just what is it you who have can’t seem to grasp or don’t want to? Will one day that be you? Do you really think this nation will rebound for average Americans?

No news is good news so why should this be?

Posted Thursday, May 29, 2008 (3 days 18 hours ago.)

No news is good news so why should this be? Yes the economy and related aspects in a nut shell. So here we go with the news of the day.

The AP reported today 19,000 GM workers are taking early retirement.

What a surprise a local energy company seeking increases due to rising fuel costs and want to pass their costs onto their customers. Any more to follow?

Hey local taxes will remain at 2007 levels even when the worth of your home is at 2006 levels and sinking. Yes your taxes just might even go up. Someone has to make the local government money, don't they? Why not the tax collector?

Yes, experts say 16% drop in home prices but if you go to your friendly banker it is more like 50 to 70% and try to get refinanced. You suddenly went from good to risk overnight. Rhetorically, have you ever thought about giving them back their home? I bet that value would change?

Yes, less taxes means more layoffs and who gets it first? You got it the ones who need it the most.

What about the big wigs who demand an increase because they can’t afford to put gas in their car on $120,000 a year but they can not buy textbooks and continue to layoff staff and cut programs to finance their raise demands. Oh and yes, I forgot to add the local schools are considering chopping school bus routes while considering telling the troops they need to take a cut.  Where does that leave parents? You got it pass the fule costs to them so be prepared for the long delays going and coming from school. Where does that leave the staff and what message does it send. Rhetorically do you think they care? Yes and all in my opinion under "the good job Brownie" label.

Hey oil prices dropped but pump prices continued to go up. Strange, don't you think so?

A political insider reveals "propaganda" inside information about distortion in selling the Iraq war. Has anyone ever heard of the Gulf of Tonkin or Watergate? Rhetorically I guess nothing ever changes so why are so many placing their hope in the same types who are there now?

Hey, have tour read all those car deals, free gas, low prices, etc, but have you read the fine print?

A local major Newspaper is also reducing staff. They are trying to get those over 50 to take a package. Yes and then what do they do? Oh, I know, go and be retooled, yea, right. I hear those call center jobs are hiring?

Hey some good news, evidently those who have intend to spend some of that rebate money on a trip to Florida. Thank God for the haves to keep tourism alive, there are enough of us who can’t pay the rent.

Yes and our local Baseball team is doing great but at the bottom in ticket sales and revenue. Ok, duh, have you seen the mean average income for a family in the Tampa area? However, our football team in Tampa is raising prices. Once again, thank God for the haves. Yes, I think there are just about enough who have to fill Raymond James Stadium.
Oh yes and finally SPAM prices up 17% in less then a year and in demand. It seems it is making a dent as a food staple during these hard times.
So what I have produced is just some excerpts from the news of the day. I’m sure if you check your local press you can find similar? So remember, it is those 50% who continue to give us what we have. The rest of us. Well pass another beer and a burger please.

Are we talking indoctrination here?

Posted Wednesday, May 28, 2008 (4 days 14 hours ago.)

Are we talking indoctrination here? Today the Associated Press reported former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan in his new book about the "Permanent Campaign Era."  What this all boils down to in my opinion in no more then propaganda or indoctrination, which of itself boils down to manipulation and misleading of public opinion on a continuous basis to favor what one is doing or intending to do to achieve. Do we not Remember the Gulf of Tonkin? Rhetorically, we can’t expect it from this college crowd now, can we? In my opinion we would be real lucky if they knew the true meaning of Republic and certainly how it applies to America.

Mr. McClellan defines it as a culture of deception.  Very strong words indeed. Just what does that say, really, a culture of deception?  Frankly, it is what We the People have decided to buy into and believe, simply summed up as trust, honor, integrity, character, faith.
So what does this have to do with our nation, our economy and everything else that is going on? Well if you can’t figure it out then what can one say? It has everything to do in my opinion with why basic economic principals are no longer adequate and we have the mess we have. It is about why things are done and more so allowed and that’s the bottom line.

Now many recognize by the number of voters that 50% of us like these politicians and of course there are 50% of us who don’t trust them at all, not in the least. Well we are back to that half empty / half full again. Isn’t it sad the same 50% who trust them will give us them all over again, along with all the same problems?

So in my opinion and as I have stated time after time after time, these are the Easter Bunny buyers. Yes, all wrapped and packaged for consumption it is consumed as if the last supper. Now rhetorically of course, I ask, just where and when, OK, let me ask this again, just where and when and by what they have done or failed to do, in their thoughts, words, deeds to have people develop this trust in them and why? In my opinion it can only be all wrapped up in one word, MONEY.

No, you don’t have to like that opinion but evidently it must be so? Why do I say this? Well are we not split as a nation over Iraq? We are not so much over Afghanistan where the lines are more distinct. Are we not split or divided as a nation over Comprehensive Immigration? Where over 80%, hey isn’t that high enough, don’t want it at all and yet these politicians will ram it down our throats if they could. Are we not divided over many more issues? In fact issue after issue after issue. The answer of course is yes.

So here we have someone who was in the inner circles of government telling us truthfully what he has experienced. How aggressively will he be attacked? Yes, he will no longer be a good man but a confused, misguided, wrong man, negatively portrayed in all ways. Why, simple, he spoke the truth. Is it not happening already?

Yes and to even think that this is somehow different in Congress or with our Representatives or Senators or any other branches or agencies of government and power is in my opinion to be, well beyond bovine. Certainly not all, but to think not the majority, well, what can one add?

Now certainly there will be the die hard’s who flock to, defend and find every reason not to agree with this opinion. Yet, in my opinion they cannot offer any real argument, evidence, works, substance but what is before us all. It is in what they have done or failed to do. They are in my opinion people who have done well under this system. They are the ones in my opinion who’s character represents those who they support in beliefs and works. They are the ones in my opinion who we can determine where their heart is regardless of what is professed by that simple stance.

So how do you, yes, do any who do, continue to vote, support and like these individuals?  No, this is not about "I Like them", "they speak well", "look well" no, it is all about reality and substance. No, this is all about you and yours, your family, your loved ones and our way of life and how you and they have been impacted good or bad and if you want what we now have to continue?

Now if you are for them and you’re way of life and preserving what you have, no problem. Yet if it is at the expense, exploitation, abuse, use and destruction of another just please don’t profess in my opinion what you are not. One can respect one’s position, stance, opinion much better if it were stated openly, such as "show me the money" as the movie line goes. However, only we individually know who we really are and it really is not what we project or profess, that is only the marketing we do. So when you millions go and vote for these same ones who have brought this down upon us all, for good or bad, we know as I stated who you are and you do as well.

So while some will say this is only Bush’s administration, one would have to reflect once again and ask, is that really so and if not then, why trust?
